Like any profession, actors and actresses do not always get along with their coworkers; on screen, they may look like the best of friends, but when filming wraps, sometimes our favorite duos just can not seem to make it work. Maybe it is the high-stress environment of working on a big-budget movie set, or maybe it is just that certain personalities clash more than others. Whatever the reason, some of Hollywood’s favorites have taken it so far as to vow to never work with each other ever again after butting heads.

Here, we take a look at some actors and actresses who now refuse to work with one another and lift the curtain on the lesser-known on-set and off-set drama that caused their relationships to sour.

11 Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Vin Diesel

     Universal Pictures

On the outside, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Vin Diesel are seemingly alike. Both are known for their chiseled physiques and similar bald heads, making them two of Hollywood’s biggest hunks. However, when the two began working together on 2011’s Fast Five, they started to butt heads in a now infamous feud.

The Rock posted on Instagram to millions of followers explaining that he was fed up with some specific male costars: “My male co-stars are a different story…some are too chicken st to do anything about it anyway. Candy aes.” Fans soon pieced together that he was dissing Vin Diesel, the main male lead of the franchise; the two went back and forth publicly, with The Rock ultimately deciding not to return to the franchise for F9.

10 Julia Roberts and Nick Nolte

     Touchstone Pictures

Though Julia Roberts and Nick Nolte play love interests in the 1994 film I Love Trouble, their off-screen relationship appeared to be much rockier. The story follows two competing journalists as they ultimately learn to work together and discover a secret conspiracy that will change their lives forever.

Anonymous sources who were present when the two worked together reported that they often got on each other’s nerves, which certainly showed on-screen as many viewers criticized the main leads’ lack of chemistry. Though rumors had swirled about the two since production wrapper, the only time Julia Roberts ever publicly commented on their relationship came when she referred to Nick as “charming and…also completely disgusting.” They have not worked on a project together since.

9 Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall

     New Line Cinema

These two leading ladies helped catapult Sex and the City to massive success across both television and film. Sarah Jessica Parker played leading lady Carrie Bradshaw while Kim Cattrall played her best friend Samantha Jones. The two had very different but complementary personalities that allowed them to lean on one another for love and support.

Yet years after the show made its debut, Kim Cattrall publicly slammed SJP, saying that she was cruel toward her on set, a stark contrast to their interactions on-screen. Though Sarah Jessica Parker refuted these claims, the comments, and interactions that followed clearly put a rift between the women. As a result, Kim Cattrall was not featured in the 2017 reunion and reboot of the popular series, with SJP stating that they felt “comfortable moving on without her.”

8 Will Smith and Janet Hubert

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is a hit ’90s comedy that shot stars like Will Smith to A-list status. Janet Hubert played Aunt Viv in the first three seasons of the sitcom while Will Smith played a fictional version of himself as her nephew. Yet when season 4 rolled around, Janet was replaced, which Will Smith claimed was due to her ego and bad attitude.

Will Smith infamously called her out on her behavior in a 1993 radio interview, revealing that Hubert had called him a “snotty-nosed punk.” Hubert responded to the claims by calling him an “ego-maniac” and vowing to never appear in a reunion. Though she eventually returned for a reunion nearly 30 years later, the two have not worked together professionally since, and it looks doubtful that they ever will.

7 Ryan Reynolds and Wesley Snipes

Ryan Reynolds and Wesley Snipes starred in the 2004 action film Blade: Trinity. The film puts humans versus vampires, where the humans must fight to stop the vampires from wreaking havoc on humankind and must work to restore peace among the groups.

Reynolds and Snipes both took on leading roles, fighting together to end the corruption of the evil troop of vampires. However, the two were not so fond of one another when the cameras stopped filming. Snipes was reported to have been extremely difficult to work with and had some choice words for his co-stars; he supposedly referred to Reynolds as “that Cracker” and seemed to avoid addressing him whenever he could. The movie itself failed to gain the national success it originally intended, due in part to the clear lack of chemistry across the main cast of actors.

6 Alec Baldwin and Shia LaBeouf

Television and film sets aren’t the only settings that are conducive to clashes between their cast! Alec Baldwin and Shia LaBeouf famously worked together on a Broadway production of Orphans, where their tensions came to a head in an explosive argument. Baldwin claimed that LaBeouf had called him out in front of everyone in the production, making the encounter all the more uncomfortable.

Supposedly, Shia criticized Alec’s commitment to the production, claiming that Baldwin was “slowing him down.” Eventually, LaBeouf dropped out and opted to not participate in Orphansat all. Though Alec was most vocal about his dislike of the actor, both men most likely played some role in the fallout and have not interacted since.

5 James Franco and Tyrese Gibson

Annapolis is the 2006 movie that starred both James Franco and Tyrese Gibson. The story follows a United States Naval Academy inductee as he goes through his first year of training and learns to adapt to life at a highly selective and prestigious institution.

Franco, who was once known for his intense method acting, seemed to get a little too deep into character when practicing the final boxing scene with his co-star. Gibson dished on the star stating that “he never snapped out of character” and was “full-on hitting [him].” The experience ultimately resulted in a strained relationship between the two actors.

4 Jennifer Lopez and Sean “Diddy” Combs

Though Jennifer Lopez and Sean “Diddy” Combs are most well-known for their musical careers, the two have both tried their hand in the world of television and film. The pair, who were romantically linked between the years 1999 and 2001, had a relatively recent altercation when it came to making an American Idol appearance in 2014.

Diddy turned down the opportunity to appear as a judge on the hit TV show seemingly because Lopez was a series regular. Despite the relationship fizzling out nearly a decade prior, it looks like the two are still not keen on working together. J-Lo continued to appear on the show for a total of five seasons.

3 William Shatner and George Takei

     Paramount Pictures

Star Trek is one of the most successful science fiction franchises of all time thanks in part to the performances of William Shatner and George Takei, who played Admiral James T. Kirk and Hikaru Sulu respectively. The actors performed together in a multitude of movies and TV series, appearing as crew members on the USS Enterprise.

However, George Takei called out his co-star for being a “prima donna” on-set, a fact which impacted the general sense of camaraderie among other cast mates. Even decades later, Shatner’s behavior clearly left a negative mark on his co-star.

2 Freddie Prinze Jr. and Kiefer Sutherland

     20th Century Fox

24 was the hit action-packed television show that followed Kiefer Sutherland as Jack Bauer, an agent who worked to protect the United States from terrorist attacks. The series was unique in that one season took place over the course of 24 hours.

However, when Freddie Prinze Jr. joined the cast, he had less-than-kind things to say about his co-star. Prinze claimed to hate every moment of his time on the production: “I did ‘24,’ it was terrible… Kiefer was the most unprofessional dude in the world.” Kiefer has never commented publicly on the feud, though it’s hard to believe Freddie’s choice words did not have some impact on the star.

1 Lucy Liu and Bill Murray

     Sony

Bill Murray and Lucy Liu shared the screen in the 2000 adaptation of Charlie’s Angels. The movie follows three elite investigators who work under their elusive, unseen boss Charlie, fighting crime and protecting innocent civilians from evil.

However, Bill, who played assistant John Bosley, and Lucy, who played angel Alex Munday, had an altercation on set that left a sour taste in both actors’ mouths. According to Lucy, Bill began throwing insults at her after a script rewrite left him frustrated. She responded by calling him out and the two fought it out from there. Liu even went as far as to describe his outburst as “inexcusable and unacceptable.”
