While it might seem obvious to go onto one of the other MCU superhero Disney + shows if you liked Moon Knight, the truth is that the show is rather unique compared to other Marvel TV series thus far. Indeed, it’s this somewhat disconnected status from the MCU that makes it unique in the context of more recent Marvel shows. While Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Hawkeye are technically within the Marvel canon that Moon Knight occupies, they have a radically different tone and style. It’s worth watching those shows for their own reasons, but if you want something similar to Moon Knight, you may have to look outside the Marvel Universe.
Fortunately, there are quite a few shows you can watch if you enjoyed Moon Knight. From other superhero shows with a similarly dark tone to weird mind-bending sci-fi, there are plenty of options if you want a recommendation for something to watch. This article will outline a few options for shows to watch next that are in some way similar to Moon Knight. What unites all these shows is the same surreal sense of strangeness that Moon Knight has.

5 Barry
HBO
If dark comedy and bloody action is what brought you to Moon Knight, then Barry is a great show to start next. Barry tells the story of an ex-soldier who became a hitman, but finds himself accepted in a group of aspiring actors and begins to want to be like them. The show manages to balance both comedy and drama, in no small part due to the unique way it handles it’s darker subject matter. Bill Hader plays the titular Barry to perfection, helping the character land really well with his deadpan delivery. The show is written in a way that, despite its overall wackiness, its dialogue and characters still feel real and gritty. The show is comparable to Breaking Bad in how grounded it feels, and though it lacks some of that show’s cohesiveness, it makes up for it in comedy. Per IndieWire, Barry also deals with the mental health of its main character, similarly to how Moon Knight does.

4 Heroes
NBC
If you want the darker take on superheroes that Moon Knight provides and some of the mystery inherent in the show, then Heroes is a good choice to watch next. This show follows a series of characters who are steadily learning that people in the world are developing superpowers, most of them because they’re the ones with these abilities, and now they have to deal with it. From a man who can paint the future while high to a cheerleader who can regenerate from any wound, there are a lot of variety in superpowers. Heroes deals with the drama of having these abilities, specifically how often it can be a burden or a curse for the people with these strange abilities. Boasting a 94% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes, season one is a cohesive and very well written season of television, telling a complete story with lots of mysteries and twists. If you liked the more psychological aspect of Moon Knight, then Heroes will also satisfy you. Heroes is also a fascinating look into what superhero television may have been like without the advent of Marvel becoming a massive cultural force, as it was made way before Daredevil or WandaVision were in production.
3 Doom Patrol
Via Warner Bros
Another example of dark superhero shows that deal with character angst and psychology, Doom Patrol follows the story of a series of super powered individuals who were each, in some way, damaged. Cliff Steele, for example, was a NASCAR driver who was severely injured in a car crash and whose brain was transferred into a robot body. If off the ball, comic book style weirdness is also what drew you to Moon Knight, then Doom Patrol has what you want in spades and bucketfuls. For example, one of the characters has multiple personalities, each with different powers. It also has a lot of heart, with the pilot especially showing this emotional side of the show. Doom Patrol is a story of imperfect and damaged people who have to learn to live and work together after major changes in their lives thrust them together. It’s a fun show with a lot of energy and adapts its comic book source material proudly without apologizing for its weirdness.
2 Fringe
Fringe is another show that deals with off the ball weirdness. Fringe is about a group investigating “Fringe Science”, which is anything that is dubiously based in a real-life understanding of science. In Fringe, the idea is that this Fringe Science manifests very often as horrifying and poorly understood items or creatures. Fringe has a similar grisly nature to Moon Knight, though more bent towards horror over action. The show itself is a perfect ‘red string on a corkboard’ sort of show, with a lot of strange mysteries interwoven with each other than the protagonists have to untangle. The show is, perhaps obviously by now, very weird. One of the cases involves a woman who was experimented on such that she would microwave everyone around her. It’s an off the wall horror show, so it’s not for everyone, but it’s worth a try if that sort of thing interests you.
1 WandaVision
Disney Platform Distribution
Technically the show that got the new wave of Marvel shows started, WandaVision is perfect for a first watch or revisit after watching Moon Knight. The show deals similarly with the headspace and mentality of its main protagonists, Wanda Maximoff and Vision, as they try to make a life for themselves in a small town. WandavVsion also has the strange experimental side that Moon Knight shows, with Marvel trying to do something different with the sitcom references and style. WandaVision’s delving into its protagonists psyche also leaves plenty of room for drama with the main characters in conflict with one another as more and more of what is happening in their town is revealed. The show also characterizes, really well, two characters who had, up till that point, not really gotten too much characterization in the wider MCU.
