James Gunn found success with the hit series Peacemaker after his success with the DC movie The Suicide Squad. The series, which is available to stream on HBO Max, focuses on John Cena’s character who, after the events of The Suicide Squad, is tasked with a mission led by a black ops squad called A.R.G.U.S. in which they must take out butterfly-like creatures that are wreaking havoc around the world.

Peacemaker received rave reviews for its execution and its expansion of the DCEU. Particular praise was given to the HBO series’ cast, specifically John Cena’s performance as the titular hero. Unsurprisingly, Peacemaker is set to move forward with season two. Until more details are released, here’s a look at the cast and seven things you might not have known about them.

7 John Cena Lived Out of His Lincoln Continental

John Cena stars in the main role as Peacemaker/Christopher Smith, the main superhero/villain that the audience find themselves fluctuating between supporting and disliking throughout the series. Cena is one of the most well known stars today; however, before he made a breakthrough in show business, his life was not always so glamorous. He moved from Massachusetts to Los Angeles in 1999 with the goal of making it in Hollywood. When money became difficult, he spent a period of time living out of his Lincoln Continental, which is a far cry from his life today.

6 Jennifer Holland Ran Track in High School

Jennifer Holland plays Emilia, who is an agent assigned to Project Butterfly. In her personal life, Holland is extremely active and enjoys keeping fit. She attributes this love of exercise to her days in high school when she was a member of the track and field team. She competed in a pole-vaulting event and was a successful athlete throughout her time at school.

5 Danielle Brooks Was Only Meant to be in Orange is the New Black for Two Episodes

Danielle Brooks plays Leota, who is another member of Project Butterfly. Fans will know her from her appearance as Taystee in the hugely successful Orange Is The New Black. Her role was a main one throughout the series, although this was not always the original plan. The role was originally planned as a guest role, however, per TVOM, the producers were so impressed with her performance that they brought her back for more episodes and then eventually extended her role to the main cast in season 2. We are glad this happened as it’s hard to imagine the show without her.

4 Freddie Stroma Studied Neuroscience

Freddie Stroma plays Ardian Chase/Vigilante, who looks up to Peacemaker and is a self-proclaimed crime fighter. Stroma’s road to acting was not typical in that he decided to study neuroscience instead of acting after he graduated from high school. He obtained his degree in 2009, but discovered through his studies that acting was his calling.

3 John Cena is the Author of Several Children’s Books

John Cena is widely known foremost for his successful wrestling career, which later turned into a successful film career that has seen him star in many successful blockbusters. He would likely be the last person that people would suspect would be a children’s author, however, he has a string of successful children’s books under his name. He released a children’s book series Elbow Grease, which was published in 2018 and featured a monster truck with dreams of competing in the Demolition Derby race. The message of the books are that it’s okay to fail, a wholesome message that shows a tender side to the superstar.

Jennifer Holland is another cast member who did not always know that her heart was fully set on acting. In her younger years, she enjoyed math and had dreams of becoming an architect. When she moved to high school, however, she realizes that acting was where her talents lied and set her sights on doing this full time.

1 John Cena Has Released a Rap Album

John Cena has been a force in entertainment since he first appeared on WWE, and we all know that his career has now transcended into a very successful film career. Not everyone will know that he has also released a moderately successful rap album. In 2005, Cena released his debut album entitled You Can’t See Me, which was released under the WWE Music Group and Columbia Records. The album was certified platinum and peaked at number 15 on the Billboard 200.
