Horror genre favorite Mark Patton is struggling with his health in a hospital, and he’s called upon A Nightmare on Elm Street fans for help. Patton, who played Jesse Walsh in A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge, more recently was featured as the subject of the acclaimed documentary Scream, Queen! My Nightmare on Elm Street. As someone who very much loves his fans, Patton has been a regular at fan conventions and has frequently interacted with fans online.
Now, many are giving back to Patton at a time when he needs the help. The actor has been hospitalized in Mexico with AIDS-related complications. Given the language barrier and the fact that the facility is overwhelmed with Covid patients, Patton is not getting the adequate care he needs. In order to be transferred to another facility where he’ll get more focused treatment, Patton and his manager, Peter Valderrama, have launched a fundraiser on GoFundMe, calling for anyone to offer what they can to help Patton.

“He has been ill for quite some time now- originally it was thought to be aftershocks of covid and some hefty infections that could potentially be tackled with care and rest. But now it is quite clearly AIDS related ailments that he is managing,” Valderrama says on the GoFundMe page, explaining why Patton had to cancel a planned fan appearance. “He has been quiet for his own privacy but with the cancellation of his events at the musicbox theater and horror house shop he has decided to release his news in the hopes that his community could help him.”
Mark Patton Wants to Be Healthy and Back at Home
“I just want to be healthy and at home with family," Patton also says in a statement posted on the GoFundMe page. “I have faced these medical challenges before and I know I have a lot of fight left in me- but the last few years have been crippling for me financially. I have always lived Month to month and I have been struggling with medical visits since October. If anyone is able to contribute it would mean a life saving option for me to be recovering in a place that can cater to my condition.”
