The Walking Dead spin-off series Daryl Dixon could end up seeing a reunion between the crossbow-carrying survivor and a certain Rick Grimes, with reports that Andrew Lincoln has been spotted in France, where the series has been filming. Although Lincoln is finally returning in his own Walking Dead spin-off with Danai Gurira’s Michonne, it would not be too unexpected to see him being reunited with Norman Reedus’ Daryl.
AMC has recently been showcasing the future of The Walking Dead beyond the finale of the flagship series in a few weeks. This includes three new spin-off shows coming in 2023, which are Daryl Dixon, Rick & Michonne, and Dead City. It is known that Daryl will follow Reedus’ character to Europe, where his story is expected to cross with that of another Walking Dead spin-off, World Beyond, which ended by seemingly revealing the source and potential cure for the zombie virus. Whether Andrew Lincoln’s return as Rick Grimes will also end up heading off in the same direction is currently unknown, but it continues to make the spin-off shows seem like character-centric episodes of The Walking Dead.

Lincoln’s presence in France has been highlighted by a fan photo that was shared by Twitter account Andrew Lincoln News, after he stopped to have a selfie taken in Paris. Of course, with the new Daryl Dixon series set to being filming there soon, speculation of Lincoln’s involvement in that series was inevitable.
How Will Rick Grimes Return To The Walking Dead?
Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes bowed out of The Walking Dead back in season 9, when it appeared Rick had died while saving the rest of the survivors by blowing up a bridge and stopping them from being overrun by a zombie horde. However, Rick survived and was spirited away on a helicopter by Jadis, and that is where his story was left despite promises of not just one but a trilogy of Rick Grimes movies coming in the future. While those plans have since transformed into a series rather than a set of movies.
There has been a lot of speculation about exactly how Rick’s return will play out, and the announcement last month that he and Gurira would be getting their own joint spin-off series has only added to the questions fans have about the show. Of course, the series will likely explain what happened to Rick following his dramatic departure from The Walking Dead, but where the story goes from there is something that we need to wait a little longer to find out.
One thing that has been made clear is that The Walking Dead may be ending this year, but the legacy of the wider Walking Dead universe is set to continue for some time to come. As well as the three new spin-off shows, the original spin-off series Fear The Walking Dead is still telling its story, and the latest spin-off Tales of The Walking Dead is expected to be returning for another season with episodic stories from across the zombie-infested universe.
