As two of the most recognizable villains from the dark streets of Gotham City, Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn have managed to catch the eyes - and hearts - of DC Comics fans. While the relationship between the duo has a history of being more of a feisty friendship, many fans have expressed their desire for the two to become more romantic. And they may just get their wish.
According to W Magazine in early 2021, MargotRobbie spoke candidly about petitioning DC to finally make a movie about the couple. She assured fans that she wouldn’t let it go until it happens. While no news about this pending project have surfaced, fans haven’t lost hope yet. So, here are some iconic pairings who would do well as the dynamic—and deadly—duo.

10 Emeraude Toubia & Anne Hathaway
Constantin Film, Wonderland Sound and Vision, Warner Bros. Pictures, ImageMovers, Necropia Entertainment, Esperanto Filmoj, and Double Dare You Productions
Portraying the vixen Isabelle Lightwood in Shadowhunters, Emeraude Toubia has already shown that she can be a femme fatale with ease. Her athletic prowess and overall badassery would translate well into the DC Comics universe in a film about Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn.

Bring in Anne Hathaway as Harley Quinn would be a great balance. Although she has already played Catwoman in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises, she could definitely make the switch to Harley. After her appearance in The Witches as the creepy Grand High Witch, her versatility should clearly not be questioned.
9 Isla Fisher & Christina Ricci
While the actress who plays Poison Ivy doesn’t necessarily have to be a redhead, one fantastic option for the role with naturally crimson locks is Isla Fisher. With her most iconic role being from the film Confessions of a Shopaholic, Fisher can easily portray a stylish vixen with a lot of attitude.
With Harley Quin being portrayed by Christina Ricci, this pairing would be more than interesting. Ricci has a long career playing strange women roles. From her childhood appearance as Wednesday Addams to her 1920s flapper character Zelda in Z: The Beginning of Everything, her range knows no bounds.

8 Rose Leslie & Alice Eve
Summit Entertainment, Mark Canton Productions, One Race Films, Goldmann Pictures, Columbia Pictures, Hemisphere Media Capital, Amblin Entertainment, P+M Image Nation, Imagenation Abu Dhabi
After her stint on Game of Thrones as the wildling Ygritte, Rose Leslie took part in The Last Witch Hunter alongside Vin Diesel. Portraying Chloe—a witch and owner of a local magical bar—Leslie embraced this unique character. Putting her in the shoes of Poison Ivy would allow her to show off her range as a seductive villain for a change.
Opposite Rose playing Harley Quinn, Alice Evewould be a fine choice. Her appearance in Men in Black 3 as Young Agent O is a great example of her ability to play a character who is both sensual and tough. Plus, neither actress would have to change her hair for either role. This is the type of dynamic that would be a breath of fresh air over the toxic relationship Harley has with the Joker.
7 Bryce Dallas Howard & Amanda Seyfried
DreamWorks Pictures, Reliance Entertainment, Participant Media, Image Nation, 1492 Pictures, Harbinger Pictures, and Lorne Michaels Productions
Versatility is the name of the acting game when it comes to Bryce Dallas Howard. This famous redhead has showcased her talents in a wide variety of films such as Lady in the Water, The Help, and, most recently, the Jurassic World franchise. There is no doubt that she would make a perfect Poison Ivy.
Meanwhile, casting Amanda Seyfried as Harley Quinn would make the adaptation even more intriguing. Her iconic role in Mean Girlsdisplays her ability to play the ditzy blonde. However, she has proven herself to be capable of so much more with her appearance in Les Misérables.
6 Christina Hendricks & Kiernan Shipka
Weiner Bros. Productions, Lionsgate Television, RadicalMedia (pilot only), AMC Original Productions, Archie Comics, Warner Bros. Television, Berlanti Productions, and Muckle Man Productions
If anyone can portray a redheaded vixen, it’s Christina Hendricks. Known best for her long-standing role on Mad Men, it is easy to imagine her seducing the men of Gotham City with no trouble. Another example is her appearance on the TV series Firefly as the seductive Saffron who ensnares Captain Mal after a single evening.
Alongside Hendricks playing Harley Quinn, Kiernan Shipka would be a solid choice. Her portrayal of Sabrina Morningstar in The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina allows her to showcase both the light and dark sides of the same character on numerous occasions. She would make a fantastic Harley Quinn that fans would love.
5 Olivia Wilde & Rose McGowan
Original Film, Relativity Media, Big Kid Pictures, Rodriguez International Pictures, and Troublemaker Studios
Considered for the role of Poison Ivy in the past, Olivia Wilde would certainly do the role justice. Over the years, she has played many unique roles including a particularly interesting one for The Change-Up where she plays an attractive assistant known as Sabrina McKay. Effortless seduction is the key here, and Wilde certainly has that in spades.
Countering her as Harley Quinn would be Rose McGowan. Historically, she plays the role of femme fatale very well, and she can pull off blonde hair. She is also quite capable of stomping bad guys into the ground as she did in Planet Terror.
4 Lena Headey & Natalie Dormer
Constantin Film International, Unique Features, Don Carmody Productions, Lionsgate, Studio Babelsberg AG, and Color Force
Game of Thrones fans would lose their minds with this pairing. Casting Lena Headey as Poison Ivy and Natalie Dormer as Harley Quinn might just cause a supernova in the entertainment world. Headey’s long acting career has given fans a lot to see. While many of her roles are historical-type characters, she has proven her ability to play more action-based appearances such as her role in The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.
As for Dormer, she has also shown that is more than a historical character actress. She displayed her edgy, wild side by shaving half of her head for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay. There is no doubt that she could pull off Harley Quinn with ease.
3 Jessica Chastain & Lady Gaga
FilmNation Entertainment, Archery Pictures, France 2 Cinema, Canal+, Ciné+, France Télévisions, 20th Television, Ryan Murphy Television, and Brad Falchuk Teley-Vision
Another redhead who could do Poison Ivy some justice is Jessica Chastain. She has shown on numerous occasions that she is capable of playing seductive yet powerful characters. She also has experience playing a political role. In Miss Sloane, she portrays a gun control lobbyist who is up against some gnarly characters. This would serve her well as Poison Ivy has a tendency to lobby for plant rights.
With Lady Gaga being cast as Harley Quinn, the relationship between these two powerhouse actresses would be formidable. In American Horror Story: Hotel, Gaga was able to put her acting skills to the test. And she succeeded quite beautifully.
2 Maggie Q & Tati Gabrielle
Wonderland Sound and Vision, Sesfonstein Productions, Warner Bros. Television, Nikita Films, Archie Comics, Warner Bros. Television, Berlanti Productions, and Muckle Man Productions
Maggie Q has made a career out of portraying badass women who can take on anything. Although there are many examples of this in her filmography, Nikita is the one that really stands out. As the extremely secretive special agent who is no stranger to fashion, Nikita is very similar to Poison Ivy in a lot of ways. Both take all the attention of a room while simultaneously controlling every man inside it.
A great actress to play Harley Quinn in this pairing is Tati Gabrielle. Known mostly for her role as Prudence in The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, she has already shown her ability to play a feisty villain. She also has the fighting skills needed for the role.
1 Carla Gugino & Katee Sackhoff
Warner Bros. Pictures, Paramount Pictures, Legendary Pictures, Bonanza Productions, Berlanti Productions, DC Entertainment, and Warner Bros. Television
With films like DC Comics Watchmen under her belt, Carla Gugino would make a fantastic Poison Ivy. Not only does she look the part with red hair, but she has proven time and time again that she can embody a vixen. She also has the perfect voice for such a seductive role.
Countering her as Harley Quinn, Katee Sackhoff would be a perfect addition to the DC Comics universe. While she typically appears in horror and sci-fi films, her recent role in The Flash shows how great she is in a superhero/villain movie. She is also beyond capable of handling intense fight scenes.
