Rumor is that Adam Driver is a frontrunner for the role of Reed Richards, aka Mister Fantastic, in the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot. The new film, coming in 2025, will reimagine the titular foursome for their debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Various names have been rumored for the different parts, but one that’s been heating up lately has been the rumor of Driver in consideration for the group’s leader.
It remains to be seen if Driver gets the role, but the potential casting does have some fans wondering what that would be like. On Instagram, digital artist clements.ink has posted some new fan art that imagines Driver as Mister Fantastic. Thanks to the visual aid, the image does give us some idea of what we could expect from Driver’s take on the character.

“Latest rumour in the Reed Richards saga, apparently Adam Driver is up for the role! I’d love to see this but I can’t wait to see an official announcement for it,” the artist says in the caption of the post, which you can view below.

Who Will Be the New Mister Fantastic?
Marvel Comics
Even if the rumors are true, Driver hasn’t signed on at this time, and there isn’t a guarantee just yet that he’d be the one playing the role of Reed Richards. Some fans had presumed that John Krasinski would be playing the character after making a surprise appearance as a Mister Fantastic variant in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but that seems unlikely to happen. In addition to other names being rumored for the role, Krasinski recently said that nobody has called him about reprising the role, leaving him to presume he’s not in consideration for Fantastic Four and that his previous cameo was just a one-off.
“There aren’t any discussions at all, the only discussion I had was actually in the second-to-last week of Jack Ryan. Kevin Feige called and said would you ever fly to L.A. and play in our sandbox for a day? I was honored to do it," Krasinski told TheWrap. “I flew right from Budapest when we wrapped and went right to the Doctor Strange set. I’m a big fan of all those characters and that world, so to get to play in that sandbox for one day was a real thrill.”
He added, “It’s totally insane. To be in a room with all those people, and again to be a part of that narrative is crazy. But yeah, being turned into spaghetti wasn’t my end goal in life as far as how it goes in the Marvel universe, but you know what it was fun nonetheless.”
Hopefully, actual casting announcements will be made soon, which will finally put to rest the endless rumors and speculation on social media. The film is officially scheduled to be released in movie theaters on Feb. 14, 2025.
