Ever since the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of Rust, Alec Baldwin says that “not a day goes by” when he does not think about the incident which saw a prop gun go off for real during rehearsals for a scene. Baldwin has appeared in a number of interviews to speak about the accident, and has posted a personal message on his Instagram account to thank those who have supported him and sent messages of “best wishes and strength.”

The three-minute video was shared by the actor, who says that he is “lucky” to be with his family for Christmas as he said he is “trying to move forward” with his life. The investigation into the shooting, which happened back in October, is still ongoing. Recently a search warrant was issued for Baldwin’s iPhone, with investigators wanting to look at the actors messages, social media activity and email correspondence. According to the affidavit, “There may be evidence on the phone, due to individuals using cellular phones during and/or after the commission of crime(s). There were several emails and text messages sent and received regarding the movie production Rust in the course of (police) interviews.”

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

In the video shared yesterday, Baldwin tried to explain his feelings, thoughts and express his gratitude to this followers, who have helped him through a “tough time.” He said:

“I wanted to take a moment to say thank you to all those people who sent me such kind words and best wishes and strength and hope and prayers and so forth. So many great sentiments from so many people, I got hundreds of emails from friends and family and colleagues and people… to send me strength and good wishes. I am very grateful for that.”

“I’m looking forward to some aspects of this being behind me, of course for everyone who’s involved in this it’s never going to be behind us because someone died so tragically," he continued, speaking about the incident. “I never lose sight of that, not a day goes by that I don’t think about that.”

He concluded by adding, “[I’m] just trying to move forward with my life and trying to get through a tough time, a really tough time. I feel very awkward, going through this it’s been very difficult and I want to say happy holidays… whatever holiday you’re celebrating. I hope you are as lucky as I am in one department and that is to be home with your family. I don’t have anything smart or original to say, just thank you to these people who sent me good wishes. Be safe, wear a mask, get the booster and don’t let Santa down the chimney without a mask.”

At the beginning of the month, Baldwin sat down for a very emotional interview with ABC in which he made it clear that he does not count himself as a victim in this, because there was an actual victim. “When I talk about this, my concern is that I don’t sound like I’m the victim, because there is a victim: There’s a woman who died, and my friend who got shot,” he said, before adding, “As far as I’m concerned, someone put a live bullet in a gun. A bullet that wasn’t even supposed to be on the property. I’ve gotten shot and killed in films before … and I trusted them to do their job. I can’t imagine I’d ever do a movie that had a gun in it again.”
