Fan-favorite Loki variant, Alligator Loki, is getting his own series! Sadly, it’s not on Disney+ (yet), with the character instead set to lead his own comic book arc. Appropriately titled Alligator Loki, the Marvel Unlimited comic book series will run for 12-issues and is available through the Infinity Comics format. Alligator Loki will be released exclusively on Marvel’s Marvel Unlimited app, with the first issue out now and all subsequent issues landing every other Friday.
Alligator Loki #1 is titled “Family Bonding” and is written by Alyssa Wong, with art by Robert Quinn and colors by Pete Pantazis. The first issue finds the reptilian variant of the God of Mischief joining forces with Thor. “For his entire life Thor has only known one brother, Loki. Known to all as conniving, sneaky, and cunning!” the synopsis reads. “But a new Loki is ready to take his place. He may be smaller, he may be cuter, and… an alligator?! But don’t be deceived, Alligator Loki has all the same attributes as his human counterpart and is ready to get into some trouble!"

While Alligator Loki will be more than enough for some Marvel fans to get their teeth into, others will be disappointed that the character as not yet been given his own live-action spinoff following his appearance in the first season of the Disney+ series, Loki. Well, with a comic book run now underway, it’s surely just a matter of time before Alligator Loki appears on our screens once again, with Marvel clearly having plans for the beloved variant.
Loki Star Richard E. Grant Wants Spinoff Led by Classic Loki & Alligator Loki
Marvel Studios/Disney+
Loki star Richard E. Grant, who was introduced as the variant Classic Loki in the first season of Loki, already has some ideas in mind. The actor recently revealed his vision for a spinoff series starring himself alongside Alligator Loki. “Alligator Loki was fantastic because in reality, he was three stuffed sofa cushions that had been sewn roughly together to react to [Laughs],” the actor said. “The fact that I was the only person that could understand what he was saying was just fantastic. I think it’s the perfect segue into having Classic Old Loki and Alligator Loki as a sub-series to go to next.”
Grant even explained how the series could work saying, “I am the Doctor Dolittle of the Marvel universe when it comes to speaking to alligators. I speak alligator fluently. Put that in the contract of when I’m doing a series as Classic Old Loki, with muscles and the alligator. It’ll have subtitles, so the audience can hear what the alligator is saying, and everyone else is saying, ‘What is he saying? What is he talking about?’ That’ll be the way.”
Before any of that madness, however, the regular Tom Hiddleston version of Loki will appear in his upcoming second season on Disney+. While little is currently known about the series, Hiddleston did recently state that he is “a temporary torchbearer” of the Loki mantle. Could he be preparing to hand the torch to Alligator Loki? We can only hope so.
