MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

Despite the process, Paper Girls is finally making its way to screens. Buckle up, just in case a time war starts waging near you, as we venture into the purple sky and tell you everything you need to know about the new series.

Paper Girls: The Plot

It’s the day after Halloween in 1988 when four young friends accidentally stumble into an intense time war and find themselves inexplicably transported to the year 2019. When they come face-to-face with their adult selves, each girl discovers her own strengths as together they try to find a way back to the past while saving the world of the future.

What the synopsis doesn’t say is that these girls are just on their morning paper route, delivering the news to their neighbors when everything goes south. Is it something about the news story they’re sharing that causes the time war? Will the news they’re delivering change as they go from the future back to their present? Only the time they travel to may tell.

Paper Girls Comics

The streaming show is based on the comic book series of the same name consisting of 30 issues. The general plot of the series gives a better idea of where the adaptation may go. Erin is the new girl in town, starting the paper delivery job and meeting KJ, Mac, and Tiffany while on her route. As fellow paper girls, they invite her to join their group. Things get odd from there, as a chance encounter with a group of teenagers causes the middle schoolers to find a time machine. Energy from the machine causes them to move both forward and backward in time, and it all spirals from there.
