Cinderella is leading the pack in the race for the Oscars Fan Favorite award. Recently, the Academy announced a Twitter poll wherein fans would vote for their favorite movie of 2021. The eligible title with the most votes accumulated by March 3 will be recognized at the Academy Awards ceremony. Because there had been criticism about deserving movies getting snubbed, this will allow for the fans to have a chance to get their favorite film of 2021 honored at the Oscars.

Kay Cannon wrote and directed Cinderella, which is, of course, based on the classic fairy tale by Charles Perrault. The musical film stars singer Camila Cabello as Cinderella, marking her acting debut. She is featured alongside Idina Menzel, Minnie Driver, Nicholas Galitzine, Billy Porter, and Pierce Brosnan. Producers are James Corden, Leo Pearlman, Jonathan Kadin, and Shannon McIntosh, and executive producers are Louise Rosner and Josephine Rose.

“It’s amazing,” Cabello said of the performance numbers in the film, per Collider. “That last finale number and that week was a real movie magic moment. It just felt very like, “Oh, my God!” The best part of a live musical is having a huge ensemble singing and dancing and doing this amazing choreography. It was a lot of rehearsals, after set days and between set days. It was definitely a lot of work, but it was a lot of fun.”

The synopsis for Cinderella reads: “Cinderella is a musically-driven bold new take on the traditional story you grew up with. Our heroine (Cabello) is an ambitious young woman whose dreams are bigger than the world will allow, but with the help of her Fab G (Billy Porter), she is able to persevere and make her dreams come true.”

You can watch the Cinderella movie streaming on Prime Video.
