The next great science fiction series may be on its way. Prime Video’s new thriller Night Sky is set to drop exclusively on the streaming platform next month.
Notably, rather than filming in a traditional production hub such as L.A. or New York, Night Sky is filming in rural Illinois. Specifically, some filming locations include the towns of Woodstock, Frankfort, Wauconda, and Island Lake. The series was also filmed at Cinespace Film Studios in Chicago.

While we do not have many specific details as of now, we do know the basic plot structure. Night Sky centers on an older married couple named Franklin and Irene York. Many years ago, the couple discovered a secret chamber in their backyard that led to a distant, deserted planet. The Yorks have guarded that secret ever since. Fast-forward to now, when a reported “enigmatic” young man enters the couple’s lives and quickly upends what they thought they knew. The Yorks soon discover that the secret chamber they have guarded all their lives turns out to be so much more than they ever could have imagined.

Cast: What We Know
When the series was first announced, Sissy Spacek was confirmed to play the lead role of Irene York, with Ed O’Neill joining as her husband, Franklin. However, O’Neill later dropped out and was replaced by J.K. Simmons.
In addition to Spacek and Simmons in the lead, Night Sky features a variety of supporting players. The so-called enigmatic young man who forms a bond with Irene, named Jude, is played by Chai Hansen. Julieta Zylberberg is playing Stella, who is described as a single mother living in Argentina who harbors a dark secret. It is currently unknown what her connection will be to the York family. Rocio Hernandez plays Stella’s daughter Toni, who resents her mother and secrets.

The Yorks also have a busybody neighbor, Byron, played by Adam Bartley, who convinced himself that the Yorks have a secret and is determined to prove himself right.
The series has also set three prominent recurring roles. Beth Lacke plays Chandra, a former student of Irene York who is unsatisfied with her life and is sent in a new direction after a chance meeting with her old teacher. Stephen Louis Grush is playing Nick, who is socially awkward and eager to impress everyone he meets. He often winds up in bad situations and finds that he has a strange connection to Stella. Cass Bugge is Jeanine, the wife of neighbor Byron. She loves her husband but gets easily frustrated with his endless suspicions about the York family.
