The legal battle continues between Amber Heard and ex-husband Johnny Depp, and during a recess in the trial, a new photograph of Heard’s alleged injuries has been released. One alleged incident of violence, according to Heard, came when Depp “backhand[ed]” her during an argument. Heard testified that she felt her lip go “into [her] teeth” and even saw a “little bit of blood” from her mouth splashed on the wall.
Heard took a photo of this alleged incident soon after it is said to have happened. Her lawyers had sought to include the image as evidence in the defamation trial, but it was barred by the judge as it was not submitted in time. While it won’t be shown during the trial, TMZ has since acquired and published the photo which shows Heard with her allegedly busted lip holding a note that reads, “I shall return.” The photo is now spreading throughout social media and you can take a look at it below.

Depp’s team has responded to the photo’s release. They pointed out that the photo was taken in 2012, information that TMZ reportedly proved by examining its metadata. This conflicts with Heard’s testimony from Depp’s previous lawsuit against News Group Newspapers in the UK, in which she testified that the first time Depp was ever violent with her was in 2013. A Heard source responded to that by stating that the Aquaman star had inadvertently gotten the date wrong, but claims that her therapist records could corroborate that Depp’s alleged abuse of Heard dates back to early 2012.

If Heard’s allegations are true, it would mean that Depp had gotten violent with her at the very start of their relationship. The two made their relationship public in 2012 after getting acquainted on the set of The Rum Diary, which was released the previous year. Depp and then-wife Vanessa Paradis publicly announced their separation in June 2012 with reports of the actor dating Heard hitting the press soon after that. Meanwhile, Heard has claimed in a court filing that she started dating Depp “around the end of 2011 or the start of 2012.” The two were married in 2015 and officially divorced in 2017.
Johnny Depp Has Also Accused Amber Heard of Domestic Violence
Vertical Entertainment
Amber Heard accusing Johnny Depp of domestic violence was that catalyst that launched the defamation trial between the two. While Heard didn’t name Depp in a 2018 op-ed written for The Washington Post, she described herself as a survivor of domestic violence. Depp’s team says the connection was obvious as she had previously gone public with the allegations, and he’s suing for $50 million, alleging Heard fabricated the claims to tarnish his reputation. Heard insists she’s telling the truth and has counter-sued for $100 million.
Not only has Depp asserted that Heard is fabricating domestic violence allegations, he has also accused his ex-wife of being violent toward him. One notable incident involved Heard allegedly throwing a glass bottle at Depp, resulting in the severing of one of his fingertips. Heard denies this and claims Depp caused the injury to himself. In any case, it’s up to the jury to decide if Heard has in fact made up these claims in order to defame her ex-husband.
