AMC’s highly-anticipated Western noir thriller series, Dark Winds, is continuing to gain momentum with the casting of Nicholas Logan and Jeri Ryan for its second season. Per Deadline, Logan joins the show as a series regular, while Ryan is set to make a recurring appearance. The series is based on Tony Hillerman’s popular Leaphorn & Chee book series. It was created by Graham Roland and executive produced by George R.R. Martin and Robert Redford.
Logan and Ryan represent the latest additions to a strong ensemble cast that has already proven to be a critical and commercial hit for the network. Nicholas Logan is set to play the character of Colton Wolf, a twisted assassin with a secret that puts him on a collision course with Lt. Joe Leaphorn (McClarnon). Jeri Ryan will play the role of Rosemary Vines, a femme fatale whose physical frailties hide her naked ambition as she plays Jim Chee (Gordon), leaving a trail of bodies in her wake. Their involvement is a testament to AMC’s commitment to the series, despite the cost-cutting decisions of the past few weeks. Both have a long history in the entertainment industry and are sure to bring their considerable talent to the show.

Dark Winds is a crime television series set in 1971 in the remote area of the Navajo Nation near Monument Valley. The series follows two Navajo police officers, Joe Leaphorn and Jim Chee, as they tackle various cases. The show offers an eerie backdrop to the already suspenseful plots, adding a sense of foreboding to the series. Just two episodes into the season, the network ordered a second season, clearly pleased with the show’s viewership and fan response.
Dark Winds features Zahn McClarnon as the lead, Lt. Joe Leaphorn. McClarnon is a highly skilled American actor who has appeared in several popular series, including the crime drama Longmire and the recent series Reservation Dogs, which focuses on life on reservations. He has a wealth of acting experience and is able to showcase it on a larger platform with his role in Dark Winds. He is joined by Kiowa Gordon as his young partner, Jim Chee. Gordon is an American actor of Hualapai descent and is known for his roles in the Twilight franchise. Along with McClarnon and Gordon, the cast also includes other Native actors such as Jessica Matten, Elva Guerra, and Jeremiah Bitsui.
The highly-anticipated second season of Dark Winds is expected to debut later this year on AMC.
