Oscar nominee and Man of Steel star Amy Adams is as excited as audiences are about Henry Cavill’s Superman return. Speaking with Variety, the actress praised her co-star and his portrayal of the DC icon following the reveal that Cavill will reprise the role for the foreseeable future of the DC Universe.
Adams has starred opposite Cavill’s Clark Kent, aka Superman, several times in the likes of Man of Steel in 2013, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016, and both Justice League and Zack Snyder’s Justice League. While details of what Cavill’s return will mean for the character and his supporting cast remains largely unknown at present, Adams said she would love to reprise the diligent Daily Planet reporter role. However, she would also be content with the part going to someone else.
“Isn’t it exciting? I’m thrilled for [Cavill]. He’s such a wonderful Superman so I’m very excited for him.”

With Man of Steel 2 now likely to be on the cards, surely Adams will be getting the call soon to reunite with Cavill and once again bring Lois Lane to life on the big screen.
“They haven’t spoken to me about it. If it’s me, great. If it’s somebody else, the role of Lois has been filled by so many wonderful actresses in the past so I’ll support whatever direction they go.”
Henry Cavill Suits Up as Superman Once Again in the Final Moments of Black Adam
Warner Bros. Pictures
After months of speculation and rumor, and the worst kept secret in the world, it was finally revealed during the last few moments of the recent DC outing Black Adam that, yes, Henry Cavill is well and truly back as the Man of Steel.
Cavill has since taken to social media to confirm his return, with Superman appearing briefly at the end of Black Adam. “Hey everyone, I wanted to wait until the weekend was over before posting this because I wanted to give you all a chance to watch Black Adam,” Cavill said. " But now that plenty of you have, I wanted to make it official that I am back as Superman. And the image you see on this post and what you saw in Black Adam are just a very small taste of things to come."
After years and years of trying, Black Adam finally hit theaters last month and introduced Dwayne Johnson as the titular Black Adam. After nearly 5,000 years of being imprisoned, Black Adam is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world. This “unique form of justice” draws the attention of Superman, who, during a post-credits scene, invites Black Adam for a friendly discussion.
Amy Adams, meanwhile, will next reprise the role of Giselle in the upcoming Disney sequel, Disenchanted. Picking up fifteen years after her happily ever after, Disenchanted finds Giselle, Robert, and Morgan moving from Manhattan to a new house in the suburb of Monroeville. Disenchanted is scheduled to be released in the United States on November 18, 2022, via Disney+.
