The second season of Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building has just landed an Academy Awards host. Amy Schumer, an actress and comedian who hosted this year’s Oscars ceremony alongside Regina Hall and Wanda Sykes, has just been cast in Only Murders in the Building season 2. Per Vanity Fair, Schumer will play a “slightly unbearable version of herself” with the celebrity becoming the newest resident of the Arconia.

According to Hoffman, Schumer jumped at the chance to appear in the series and was “the most immediate yes” they’ve ever gotten for the cast. It is said that the “self-obsessed” depiction of Schumer in the series is looking to adapt the Only Murders podcast for the big screen with hopes to star in a “feminist antihero version” of the story, told from the perspective of season 1’s killer. Before she can make the adaptation, however, she must encourage the Only Murders creators to clear their name of the latest killing in the building.

Season 2 will also introduce Michael Rapaport as a detective investigating the building’s murders. Cara Delevingne is also joining the show in season 2 as a love interest for Selena Gomez’s character. Shirley MacLaine debuts in season 2 as well as the mother of Jayne Houdyshell’s Bunny.

Schumer has appeared in a variety of feature films, including Trainwreck, Snatched, and The Humans. She also stars in the Hulu series Life & Beth which was recently renewed for a second season. Schumer is primarily a comedian and has hosted multiple comedy specials before finding even greater fame as an Academy Awards host.

Only Murders in the Building Has Been a Big Hit for Hulu

Steve Martin co-created Only Murders in the Building with John Hoffman. Martin also stars in the series alongside Selena Gomez and Martin Short as the three leads. Season 1 picks up with the three playing strangers sharing an obsession with a true crime podcast. They decide to launch their own podcast investigating the death of one of their neighbors in their apartment building. The series has been widely acclaimed, scoring very high with critics and viewers alike, prompting Hulu to order a second season.
