On Tuesday night, only a whopping three days into the new year, Andy Cohen surprised audiences and, gauging by his reaction, himself, when he accidentally dropped the F-bomb on live television during his nightly talk show Watch What Happens Live! on Bravo TV. As if the irony of the talk show’s title wasn’t enough, Cohen’s mishap took place during his regular bit titled ‘Jackhole of the Day.’

The ‘Jackhole of the Day’ segment that caused Cohen’s four-letter-word slip-up was actually directed at a recent TikTok trend called ‘Celebrity Death.’ The trend has young TikTokers pranking their parents by telling them that their favorite celebrity has died and, in social media fashion, recording their devastated reactions for the world to see or, rather, laugh at. Although a prank, Cohen made it clear that he was quite sick of seeing videos of people crying over his and other celebrities’ fake deaths.

“For the last two weeks people have been sending me videos of their loved ones being told I’m dead. I have no desire to experience people’s reactions to me dying, I am scared enough of dying in reality without having to watch bizarre simulations of it over and over again,” Cohen said. He continued, “So let me be clear, don’t make, distribute or tag me in any f****ing,” and then abruptly stopped, catching himself as his eyes widened, and he rushed to cover his mouth.

Right after Cohen’s little mistake, he collected himself and continued where he’d left off, slamming the TikTok trend, “Why is this even a thing? It’s not even funny.” Cohen made a point to tell his audience that this was the first time he’d dropped the F-word on the show. He wrapped up the moment by saying, “I’d like to thank all the TikTok moms for your tears. I was very touched, then horribly depressed. Stop now, you TikTokers.”

Immediately following the Broadcast, Cohen took to Twitter to apologize and tell his fans that the incident was the first in 13 and a half years.

In actuality, Andy Cohen’s mishap is not all that uncommon. Many of the talk show’s guests have cursed while being interviewed by Cohen, and Cohen isn’t the first television host who made an F-bomb blunder. Production is able to catch it fairly instantaneously since the broadcast is on a slight delay. In Cohen’s case, they did catch it, but his own reaction is what made the moment so hilarious to viewers at home. After all, it’s a late show called Watch What Happens Live!- a few accidental profanities seem par for the course.
