Like most long-term Marvel actors, Anthony Mackie’s Falcon has had his fair share of dramatic moments and plenty of humorous ones. However, as he moves up to take his place as the MCU’s new Captain America, Mackie still has one moment from his time as Falcon that never fails to make him crack up laughing. It is not surprising that the moment also features his on-screen buddy Bucky Barnes aka The Winter Soldier, played by Sebastian Stan.

Mackie will take the lead in his first headlining movie, Captain America: New World Order, and it seems like things are going to be tough for the new Cap. With the movie set to see the return of the Leader from 2008’s The Incredible Hulk, and potentially lead into the Thunderbolts movie, it may sound like the movie is going to have too much drama going on to fit in much humor, but this is Marvel and we know that there is always a quip to be found in the darkest moments of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

While discussing his step up from Falcon to Captain America with IMDb, Mackie was asked which moment he has been involved in makes him crack up the most. It didn’t take him long to pinpoint an exact frame almost that does that to him, and it is from all the way back in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Mackie said:

“Well, I would say the one that cracks me up the most would probably be the car chase up on the bridge, and Sebastian sticks his hand through the glass and rips the steering wheel out. If you freeze-frame it, the face I made was so ridiculous. It was so unassumingly childish, like the excitement on my face. That was probably the one that cracks me up the most.”

Captain America 4 Will Be ‘An Incredible Ride,’ According to its Director

Following in the footsteps of Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers is going to be no mean feat, but Mackie is certainly up to the challenge after acting as Rogers’ friend and colleague for his entire MCU run. While there were some who believed that Rogers would pass on his mantle to Bucky, it made much more sense for Sam to be the one to become the next Captain America, although it took the length of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier for him to realize that he was up to the task. During an interview at the D23 Expo, director Julius Onah discussed Mackie taking the lead in the upcoming film and the new set of challenges that await him.

Captain America: New World Order will arrive in cinemas on May 2, 2024.

“It’s going to be a really, really incredible ride. It’s a paranoid thriller with Sam [Wilson] at the center of it, and he is now in this position where he is a leader and he has to deal with that challenge of what it means to lead a group of people that he really cares about. For Sam, beforehand, he was part of a team, but now to be at the head of a team is a new set of challenges, so his journey in this film is really about that.”
