Earlier this year, it was announced that Ozark’s breakout star Julia Garner would be starring in a new project titled Apartment 7A. At that time of reporting, not much else was known about the film. Now, Bloody Disgusting is reporting that not only has production wrapped up, but that they have it on good authority the top-secret is that Apartment 7A is actually the prequel to the 1968 horror classic thriller Rosemary’s Baby. According to the site, the prequel will be about the woman who is said to have thrown herself from the seventh-floor apartment, shortly after new neighbor Rosemary Woodhouse meets her.

If nothing else, the clearest indication of Apartment 7A’s having ties to Rosemary’s Baby is the casting. While Julia Garner’s name is at the top of the cast list on IMDb, her role is not defined. Another notable name at the top is two-time Oscar winner Dianne Wiest with reports of her part being described as instrumental and meaty. Perhaps she will fill Ruth Gordon’s shoes as Minnie Castevet, who won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for the role in 1969. However, the more solid evidence lies within the other cast of characters which include Kevin McNally as Roman Castevet, Amy Leeson as Rosemary Woodhouse and Scott Hume as Guy Woodhouse. Coincidently, Paramount Pictures owns the rights to Rosemary’s Baby.

Fans May Finally Learn What Happened in Apt 7A of the Bramford Building

     Paramount Pictures

In the original story of Rosemary’s Baby, which is based on the 1967 novel by Ira Levin, Guy and Rosemary Woodhouse move into the illustrious Bramford Building where they are quickly befriended by a group of eccentric neighbors. Soon afterward, Rosemary becomes pregnant. She eventually fears her baby is in danger as she experiences some pretty bizarre, plenty of gaslighting encounters with her neighbors. She also meets a young woman, Terry Gionoffrio, who lives with the Castevets and is later found dead outside from an apparent suicide.

Allegedly, the prequel will center around Terry Gionoffrio who befriends Rosemary. The two women meet in the creepy laundry room where Rosemary apologizes for staring and explains she mistook her for an actress. Terry introduces herself and confesses that she’s a recovering addict and the sweet elderly couple (the Castevets) on the seventh floor took her in. Not long after their meeting, Terry is alleged to have thrown herself from the seventh-floor apartment. Apartment 7A, perhaps?
