The appointment of James Gunn and Peter Safran as co-CEO of DC Studios has excited a number of fans of the Warner Bros. Discovery franchise, and it seems someone else who is pleased with the changes is Aquaman’s Jason Momoa. While the actor’s second solo movie as the aquatic superhero is still waiting to be released, it seems that there is more bubbling under the surface and it seems that one of his “dreams come true” is going to be happening under the new regime. While speaking to ET Canada, Momoa commented:
Of course, with Momoa’s Aquaman having already had his solo movies, and being part of the Justice League, the question is what exactly this dream come true could be? There are some obvious possibilities such as a second Justice League movie, and also a host of iconic Aquaman story arcs that could now play out as part of the new DCU direction under Gunn and Safran. While it will probably not be too long before the plan for the next few years of the DCU is revealed by DC Studios, for now, it looks like only Momoa knows what his dream is, and everyone else will just have to bide their time to find out.
“I think with Peter Safran and Mr. Gunn at the helm now at DC, I’m very excited about that. There are a lot of cool things that are going to be coming up and one of my dreams come true will be happening under their watch, so stay tuned.”

How Will Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom Fit In The New DCU Plan?
Warner Bros. Pictures
Before Gunn and Safran’s reign over the DCU began, there were a number of projects that managed to avoid the Warner Bros. Discovery cost cutting axe, and those include Jason Momoa’s return as Arthur Curry in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. The synopsis of the movie reads: “When an ancient power is unleashed, Aquaman must forge an uneasy alliance with an unlikely ally to protect Atlantis, and the world, from irreversible devastation.”
While the movie was set to be released this December, that would have put it in direction with another movie that features a lot of spectacular underwater scenes; Avatar: The Way of Water. Momoa previously discussed how the movie has been able to learn from his first time out as Aquaman, and that technology advancements have made it possible to really push the boundaries when it comes to the visuals of the sequel.
Although Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will do well, WBD are probably wise to avoid a head on competition with James Cameron’s Avatar sequel, which is expected to dominate the box office this Christmas in the same way Spider-Man: No Way Home did in 2021. Whether that will means December 2023 will be Aquaman’s time to shine, we will have to wait and see, and by that time Gunn and Safran’s plans for Momoa’s character may have been revealed.
