Saban Films has revealed our first look at action movie superstar Bruce Willis in one of his final movie roles. The newly released image, which comes via USA Today, finds Willis with gun in hand as he takes the lead in the upcoming sci-fi thriller Assassin, which will sadly be one of the last times audiences can see the Hollywood legend on screen following his recent retirement. Check out the new image from Assassin below.

Directed by Jesse Atlas in his feature film directorial debut and written by Aaron Wolfe, Assassin finds Bruce Willis on familiar ground as “the leader of an elite CIA group called into service when experimental human drone tech falls into the wrong hands.” The action thriller will contain all the ingredients we love to see in a Bruce Willis vehicle, including betrayal, revenge, and, of course, a whole lot of action.

Assassin Will Be One of Bruce Willis’ Final Roles

Sadly, Assassin will be one of Bruce Willis’ final roles, with the acting legend recently walking away from the profession following a diagnosis of aphasia, which causes difficulties with both language and speech. The eldest daughter of actor Bruce Willis and actress Demi Moore, Rumer Willis, took to social media following the unfortunate announcement to thank fans for their support at this difficult time.

“To Bruce’s amazing supporters, as a family we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities,” she said in a social media post back in March. “As a result of this and with much consideration Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him. This is a really challenging time for our family and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion and support. We are moving through this as a strong family unit, and wanted to bring his fans in because we know how much he means to you, as you do to him. As Bruce always says, “Live it up” and together we plan to do just that.”

As well as starring in Assassin, Willis will return to complete the Detective Knight trilogy with Detective Knight: Independence. Directed once again by Edward John Drake, Detective Knight: Independence finds Willis’ Detective James Knight attempting to stop a rogue vigilante and an out-of-control EMT vehicle from putting the city in danger on Independence Day.

Assassin is set to be released by Saban Films in select theaters and VOD on March 31, 2023. Detective Knight: Independence, meanwhile, is set to be released by Lionsgate in select theaters and VOD on January 20, 2023, followed by its DVD and Blu-ray release on February 28, 2023.
