Last year, Austin Butler stunned the world with his incredible portrayal of Elvis Presley in the Baz Luhrman-directed biopic Elvis. The actor not only did a magnificent job with his body, imitating the King’s famous movements but also displayed his skills as a singer, which involved finding a way to recreate the unique and incomparable voice of the famous artist.

Since then, much has been talked about how Butler has maintained the tone of Elvis’s voice, unable to detach himself from that aspect of his performance. Many even believe it is just a publicity move, and the actor could easily go back to speaking as he has always done without any problem.

Fortunately, Austin dispelled any doubts during a recent appearance on The Graham Norton Show, where he confirmed that he is doing everything possible to get rid of the acquired tone of voice:

As a method actor, it is easy to see why it’s been so hard for him to move on from the character, especially from such an important part of it as Presley’s voice.

“I am getting rid of the accent, but I have probably damaged my vocal cords with all that singing.”
