The culmination of the MCU’s Multiverse Saga in 2026’s Avengers: Secret Wars is already being built up as one of the most spectacular superhero movies ever put on screen. Of course, with great possibility comes great amounts of fan art around what and who could turn up in such epic movies. One of the latest pieces has jumped on the Wolverine bandwagon and teamed up Hugh Jackman’s iteration of the character with a bearded Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man.
Tobey Maguire made a one-time unthinkable return as Peter Parker in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home and Jackman is preparing to make an equally incredulous appearance as Wolverine in Deadpool 3. So naturally, that has fans questioning whether both stars are likely to make one final appearance as their respective heroes before the multiverse is seemingly sealed off forever. If it does happen, it would likely seem that Avengers: Secret Wars would be the place for it to happen.
MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY
The art shared by spdrmnkyxxiii on Instagram sees older versions of Wolverine and Spider-Man standing back to back, looking battle beaten, but certainly not out of the game. Another piece shared by the same artist updates the image to deliver an alternative vision of how they could appear. With all the hype around Jackman reprising his role alongside Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool, it is not surprising that this would be a scenario that makes many fans very happy. How Big Will Avengers: Secret Wars Be?
Marvel Comics
In terms of box office success, no one is predicting that any of the upcoming Marvel Studios movies will be considered a flop. However, just like Avengers: Endgame before it, Avengers: Secret Wars will be the epic climax of another multi-year investment of time from fans, and those fans will not want to miss it play out on the big screen. With this in mind, there will certainly be at least one more Avengers movie tussling for space in the list of highest-grossing movies of all time in three years.
In terms of how big the movie will be when it comes to its story and character roll call, there is no way of telling exactly how far off the scale the film could get. While Endgame was playing with all the heroes of one Marvel universe, Secret Wars will potentially involve multiple iterations of the heroes from across the multiverse. This means there is a potential to reintroduce characters that have died, old characters from previous versions of Marvel franchises, and who knows where or how it will end.
While there is undoubtedly a big mountain of content to get through before that happens, that means there is plenty of time for fans to continue to build up their expectations for the final movies of the Multiverse Saga. That certainly worked out well in the case of Endgame, but can lightning strike twice for Marvel Studios? While Phase 4 has been a mixed bag in troubled times for the world of cinema, the coming years could see all of that become nothing more than a blip.
