Thanks to some stunning concept art for a new Multiverse ride at Disney California Adventure, King Thanos, we now have our first look at several new characters and how they will look in the MCU, including the likes of Daredevil, Werewolf By Night, and Man-Thing. Revealed by the official Avengers Twitter account and announced during D23, King Thanos will find an army of superhero variants battling a version of Thanos who won the Infinity War.

King Thanos is described as “a brand-new Multiversal threat that was designed exclusively for Avengers Campus at Disneyland.” The Mad Titan will be the main threat in this “never-before-seen third attraction with a brand-new story” as part of the experience at Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure park.

“Avengers Campus at Disneyland Resort will head into the Multiverse with a third attraction with a brand-new story! When joining battle with the Avengers, you never know what foes you’ll face from anywhere and everywhen. More to come on this third attraction in the future here on the Disney Parks Blog,” Kevin Feige announced at the D23 Expo.

“This is a Thanos that won [the Infinity War], and the Avengers are not too happy about that,” added Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products.

While Thanos was beaten following a heroic sacrifice made by Tony Stark in the main MCU timeline, The Mad Titan has won in the pages of Marvel Comics during the arc, Thanos Wins. Released in 2018 and written by Donny Cates, Thanos Wins explores a world in which Thanos emerged victorious and must do battle with a whole host of familiar characters, each of which has undergone a few changes. Including a Mjölnir-wielding Silver Surfer and a Cosmic Ghost Rider.

While the details of who will battle King Thanos have not yet been fully revealed, the concept art offers new looks at several up-and-coming characters, including Werewolf By Night, Man-Thing, an animated Peter Parker from Spider-Man: Freshman Year, and a red suit-wearing Daredevil.

The Daredevil reveal is likely to be the most exciting for many, with the image seemingly confirming that the Marvel vigilante will ditch the red-and-yellow ensemble from She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and once again don the red outfit first seen in the hugely popular Netflix series.

King Thanos is just one of several major reveals made at D23, with the first footage from the upcoming Disney+ special, Werewolf by Night, offering our first look at the black-and-white, hammer horror outing. While it is unknown how big a role the character will play in the MCU, his inclusion in the King Thanos artwork at least shows that both he and Man-Thing will have a presence in the franchise going forward.

King Thanos, a Multiverse variant designed for Avengers Campus, does not yet have a release date but was described as “coming soon” during D23. Werewolf By Night, meanwhile, is scheduled to be released on Disney+ on October 7, 2022, with Daredevil: Born Again due for release in Spring 2024.
