There were many memorable theories made by fans as to how the Avengers would defeat Thanos in Avengers: Endgame. One of the most memorable for all the wrong reasons, was the idea that Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang aka Ant-Man could have easily taken out the Mad Titan by shrinking himself down, climbing up Thanos’ rear and the enlarging to instantly kill the villain. While a similar idea has been seen in the opening episode of The Boys season three, that moment proved why it was unlikely this would ever have been considered. However, the theory has now made its way into being MCU canon thanks to a video from the Avengers: Quantum Encounter, the interactive experience seen on the Disney Wish cruise ship.

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

Once again proving that Marvel Studios do listen to the many theories fans come up with when it comes to the MCU, a clip shared from the video by Ant-Man News sees Rudd and his Ant-Man and the Wasp co-star Evangeline Lilly assume their respective roles of Ant-Man and the Wasp as they do a presentation which involves Ant-Man directly addressing what has become known as the “Thanus” theory.

In the fun little reference, which can be seen below, he begins to address the “elephant in the room”, saying that he has heard about the theory that he could have just taken out Thanos in “a very creative way.” He goes to call that gross, and is just about to explain a detailed reason why it wouldn’t have worked when he is cut off by the Wasp, who says they just don’t have the time.

Ant-Man and The Wasp Hits Cinemas Early 2023

Having originally been scheduled to arrive next summer, back in April it was announced that Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania would be swapping places with The Marvels, and would now be arriving in cinemas on February 18, 2023. While there has been no official word on why the change was made, it seems clear that the switch has more to do with the scheduling of The Marvels, than the Ant-Man threequel.

Paul Rudd’s third solo Ant-Man movie was originally thought to bring Kang the Conqueror fully into the MCU at what was assumed to be the end of Phase 4. However, it has since been suggested that although Kang, played by Jonathan Majors, will be the villain of the movie, it will not be the ultimate version of Kang just yet, and with limited to connections to other movies or TV shows, it seems that Ant-Man’s time of arrival is not as important as The Marvels.

With The Marvels now being delayed until July 28, 2023, it allows Marvel Studios a little more time to work on the connected Secret Invasion series, which is reportedly heading into reshoots later this year. Secret Invasion was originally slated to debut on Disney+ towards the end of this year, which would have seen it end just before the February release of The Marvels in cinemas. With the series seemingly not coming until early 2023, it would have clearly not aired prior to the movie’s arrival, meaning that a move to the summer was the only away around the issue.
