Actor-comedian Rob Delaney will join the ensemble cast for the upcoming Apple TV+ drama Bad Monkey. Written and executive produced byTed Lasso co-creator Bill Lawrence, the series is an adaptation of the popular 2013 novel written by Carl Hiaasen. As of now, the ensemble of regular characters on the show includes, apart from Delaney, Ana Villafañe (best known for her role in the comedy-drama series Younger), Arturo Luis Soria (of Insatiable), and newcomer Ahmed Elhaj.
Also joining the cast as a regular is Vince Vaughn, currently best known for the horror-comedy Freaky and of course, True Detective, along with Michelle Monaghan, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Meredith Hagner.

Bad Monkey follows the story of Andrew Yancy (Vaughn), a detective who finds himself demoted to a restaurant health inspector stationed in Florida. When a severed arm is reeled in by a tourist out fishing, Yancy sees this as his ticket to being reinstated as a detective and takes it upon himself to find out what really happened. His ambition pulls him into a world of corruption and deception. And there is an actual monkey as well.
Villafañe plays Rosa, a Miami medical examiner who is starting to realize she may not be cut out for her job, and so abandons her job to help Yancy discover the mystery of the severed arm. Delaney is Christopher, the boyfriend of Eve Stripling (wife of Nick Stripling, the victim that the severed arm belongs to). Elhaj plays Neville, a young, mild-mannered Bahamian fisherman who is forced into action when a mysterious businessman bulldozes his family home to start construction on a resort. Soria portrays Rogelio, a good Key West police detective who comes to his best friend and ex-partner, Andrew Yancy, with a life-changing assignment. It further complicates things that Rogelio’s husband is also Andrew Yancy’s attorney.
Villafañe has recently proven herself in a recurring role on the final season of Younger. Her other previous credits include a heavily recurring role on NBC’s New Amsterdam. She was also recently seen starring in a role in the Broadway production of ‘Chicago’. Arturo Luis Soria has appeared in guest star/recurring roles on Insatiable and The Blacklist.
The newcomer Ahmed Elhaj was one of the 10 emerging actors selected as finalists for the Class of 2020 of the inaugural Warner Bros. Television Actors in Training program. He recently recurred on Grantchester and will next be seen in Dangerous Liaisons.
Bad Monkey is being written and executive produced by Ted Lasso co-creator Bill Lawrence. Joining Lawrence in the Exec seat is Vaughn himself, along with is being written and executive produced by Ted Lasso co-creator Bill Lawrence. Warner Bros. TV is the studio developing the project.
