Former Jackass star Bam Margera is out of the hospital. Recently, Margera has been admitted to a local ICU and placed on a ventilator after having some difficulty breathing. He had been battling a severe case of pneumonia which was compounded by contracting Covid-19. Margera has since announced that he’s feeling much better after getting released, having made a full recovery since his time in the ICU. He revealed the news with a post on Instagram that also thanked everyone who had sent love his way during his hospitalization.

This follows a prior post from Bam’s family updating fans on his condition. In part, that post read, “Fortunately, he is now testing negative for COVID and receiving care for pneumonia. Bam is on the road to recovery and thankfully will be discharged soon.”
Meanwhile, Margera has been struggling with addiction going back several years, affecting his status in Jackass Forever. He has been in and out of rehab, celebrating the completion of a 12-month program back in May. He turned up missing from the facility the following month, though he returned when his family intervened. Former Jackass co-star Steve-O has also said that preventing Margera from appearing in Jackass Forever was “tough love” as it was meant to help him with overcoming his addiction struggles.

Margera and Steve-O have since spoken things through, but Johnny Knoxville has yet to see Bam again after the Jackass Forever fiasco. Following Margera’s firing, he filed a lawsuit against Knoxville and others involved with the film; it has since been settled for an undisclosed amount. Knoxville said in October that he hasn’t spoken to Margera since the Jackass Forever trouble, and that before any possible discussions could happen regarding a possible return (a Jackass series is reportedly in development), Margera would first need to be healthy.
“I think that would be a discussion,” Knoxville told Variety. “I only want him to get better. That’s the first step. He has to take that step and maintain that step, because everything else is just gravy. Jackass is not important when you’re talking about someone’s life.”
He also said, “It boils down to: I love Bam. I know that a lot has happened. I just want him to get well for himself and his family. I love the guy, and I want him to get well and stay well.”
