Batwoman is a series featuring the titular character taking on many different villains throughout the show’s run. The show was recently canceled before the CW network was bought out, marking the third season as its last. Warner Bros. held nothing back when loading up the season with plenty of legacy villains.
While most of these villains were new iterations of their respective characters, we would see plenty of chaos associated with the Bat-family’s rogues gallery. Add an original villain suited for Ryan Wilder and a friend, temporarily turned foe, and we have an eclectic list of evil to sort through.

8 Killer Croc (Steven)
Warner Bros. Media Distribution
Steven was a young child who found a tooth from the original Killer Croc. In turning this tooth into a necklace, Steven would cut himself, which would, in turn, infect Steven with the same disease that caused Croc’s mutation. Steven would eventually succumb to the effects of the infection, gaining powers and a reptilian appearance and lashing out at anyone close by due to his primal urges.

After breaking free from the containment his father crafted for him, Steven would go on a murdering spree, killing multiple men and children. Batwoman would initially be stopped from intervening by Steven’s father, who had stunned her with a cattle prod. However, Steven was too far gone and attacked his father, killing him before being subdued by Batwoman. While Steven was indeed a fearsome opponent, he suffered from a severe lack of screen time.
7 Mad Hatter (Liam Crandle)
Liam would begin his descent into villainy by purchasing the original Mad Hatter’s hat online. Driven by a desire to impress Alice, Liam would practice using the hat’s mind control capabilities by forcing a man to slit his friend’s throat. Satisfied that he can control a human being completely, Liam sets out to make a very public appearance.
At Mary Hamilton’s graduation ceremony, Liam turns what should have been a grand celebration into a gory affair by controlling Mary and forcing her to harm one of her professors. Liam would eventually be taken down by the combined efforts of Batwoman and Alice. While Liam doesn’t stick around too long, he does kickstart events that bring Batwoman and Alice together on the mission to round up the legacy items that were lost when Kate Kane’s plane crashed in Season 2.
6 Virgil Getty
Virgil is the de facto enforcer of the Black Glove Society, a group of wealthy socialites who had come together in solidarity as they dealt with their children’s mental illnesses. As the primary enforcer, Virgil would correspond with Jada Jet as Jada sought a way to keep her son on ice until she could find a cure for his condition. Knowing that Victor Fries’ liquid nitrogen could be the necessary tool, Virgil would steal it and test it on multiple subjects, killing them in the process.
Batwoman would eventually locate Virgil, but not before Mary Hamilton would bury him alive, followed by Sophie torturing him for information on who hired him. As Batwoman stopped Sophie from crossing a line, Virgil would kill himself to ensure he wouldn’t be coerced into giving up his employer. A loyal enforcer to the Black Glove Society unto the end.
5 Professor Pyg
The first true Batman legacy villain to appear, Professor Pyg, had previously worked as a chef for Jada Jet. Jada would fire Pyg in a public display, which would lead to Pyg being unable to gain employment anywhere else. This would lead to a downward spiral that cost him his family and sanity. Obsessed with revenge, Pyg would manage to trick Jada into hiring him as a private chef for her dinner with Ryan.
Pyg would leak this private dinner to Jada’s son Marquis, hoping to kill both of Jada’s children in front of her before taking her life. Drugging the family and their respective plus ones, Pyg would first murder Marquis’ date, Zoe. After the family hid in a panic room, Pyg would work on a bomb before catching Ryan as she tried to retrieve insulin. Using the insulin to counteract the paralytic agent, Ryan would fight Pyg, as her family and Sophie also healed themselves. Pyg’s reign of terror would come to a brutal end when Marquis came out of shock and proceeded to stab Pyg to death.
4 Victor Zsasz
Zsasz is a hitman who compulsively cuts himself for every person he kills. Having previously appeared in Season 2, Zsasz reappears after being hired by Marquis with a specific job. Zsasz has been tasked with murdering Jada’s daughter in front of her unless Batwoman appears. Unfortunately, Ryan is both Jada’s daughter and Batwoman.
Alex Morf plays the role of Zsasz well, making this iteration of the character unique from his many appearances across DC Comics media. This version of the character also has a history with Ryan, leading to Zsasz’s friendly banter with the mother-daughter duo despite his professional duty to murder his friend. This wouldn’t be the only time Batwoman grew friendly with criminals. Thankfully, Ryan can take Zsasz down, albeit after Zsasz plays witness to Jada finally telling Ryan the truth behind her reasons for giving Ryan up as an infant.
3 Poison Ivy (Pamela Isley)
Pamela Isly returns to the small screen with Bridget Regan taking on the role of the original Poison Ivy. Pamela had been a college botany student, where she met and fell in love with future GCPD officer Renee Montoya. Pamela would be kidnapped by a fellow student and experimented on during her studies, leading to her transformation into Poison Ivy, an eco-terrorist. Renee, heartbroken, would work with Batwoman to stop Poison Ivy by giving her a desiccation serum and then burying her beneath the Batcave, away from water and sunlight.
After being brought back into the light by Renee, Pamela would feed off the powers that Mary Hamilton had been infected with to return to full strength. Pamela would return to her wicked ways, but this time, Ryan and Renee set out to stop Pam together. After an epic battle, where Marquis would get desiccated instead, Mary would use her powers mixed with a pheromone blocker to make Pam vulnerable. Pam would get a happy ending this time with Renee Montoya taking her to Coryana, a dream nation where the environment is prioritized over the corporate industry.
2 Poison Ivy (Mary Hamilton)
Alice’s step-sister, Mary Hamilton, had been infected by Pamela Isley’s vines, slowly turning her into the new Poison Ivy. With Mary being a close friend and member of Batwoman’s team, this story arc would encompass roughly eight episodes of the 13-episode season, the second-longest story arc. This timeframe gave room for a slow burn, with Mary becoming more accustomed to taking care of plants and keeping them in areas she would frequent.
Soon, her powers would influence her, causing her to black out and attack people, burying one man in honeycombs surrounded by bees and leaving a man buried from the neck down in the dirt. Alice would enable Mary’s attitude change by triggering the complete transformation and manipulating Mary into helping Alice escape captivity. There would be emotional scenes with Ryan trying to save Mary, but Mary refusing to be captured, as well as Mary’s realization that she had killed a man during her rampage. Even when it appeared Mary would never forgive Alice for allowing Mary to become Poison Ivy, she would come to forgive her when it was revealed that Alice had falsely confessed to murdering the man so that Mary wouldn’t be held responsible.
1 Marquis Jet
Marquis Jet would be the quintessential villain of the third season. An original character intricately tied into both Ryan & Alice’s lives. Marquis is Jada Jet’s son, making him Ryan’s brother. As a child, Marquis was on the bus that the Joker had hijacked years ago. The same bus that would lead to Alice being separated from her family. After standing from his seat and talking to the Joker, Marquis would have a lethal joy buzzer pressed against his head. The shock would alter his personality, turning him into a sociopath that would grow to be obsessed with the Joker.
After brutally murdering Pyg, Jada would tell Ryan the truth, revealing that Marquis had knowingly exposed his father to his peanut allergy and disposed of his epi-pen, allowing his father to die. Marquis would slowly take on traits similar to the Clown Prince of Crime, from the purple extensions to his hair to the manic laughter that would follow when he murdered his victims. Despite how badly Alice wanted to use the joy-buzzer on herself to stop her hallucinations, she would team up with Ryan to use it on Marquis, saving Ryan’s family from having to make a difficult decision.
