Ben Kingsley is an iconic actor with acting credits that span nearly sixty years since his earliest projects. He portrayed Mahatma Gandhi in Gandhi, which won him the Best Actor at the Academy Awards in 1983. He followed with a Best Picture winner in Schindler’s List and played Don Logan in Sexy Beast. Now, Kingsley will return to his role as Trevor Slattery once again in the upcoming Wonder Man series for Disney+, according to reports from Variety.
Kingsley first made his way to the MCU in 2013 with Iron Man 3, where he appeared to be a villain named the Mandarin. However, as the plot unfolds, audiences discover he’s actually an actor posing as a threat, eventually becoming a fan-favorite character. He would return to the connected universe in 2021 with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Again, fans would see Slattery join the film’s final battle in a comedic manner.

Wonder Man will most likely center around the Hollywood industry, as the character, Simon Williams, is usually depicted as an actor, stunt performer, and a massive celebrity while acting as his Wonder Man counterpart. Therefore, this plot would make perfect sense for Slattery, who seeks to become a world-renowned actor within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Variety report says Kingsley will have a prominent role within Wonder Man, with the tone of the series described as a satire of show business.
Destin Daniel Cretton Loves Trevor Slattery
Destin Daniel Cretton had a successful first attempt in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Shang-Chi, and Kevin Feige and the rest of the crew immediately ordered more from the filmmaker. Last year, a deal was reached between Cretton, Marvel Studios, and Hulu’s Onyx Collective, which would tie the director to the upcoming Shang-Chi sequel and an unnamed Marvel series.
In June, reports confirmed Cretton’s involvement in the Wonder Man series, where he would write, produce, and possibly direct episodes of the show. However, two Marvel projects wouldn’t be enough for Cretton, who recently signed on to helm what will undoubtedly be one of the biggest films ever made, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. Destin Daniel Cretton is all in on the MCU during the Multiverse Saga, and he isn’t going to do it without Ben Kingsley.
Over the past ten years, Kingsley was in one Marvel project before Cretton included the actor in Shang-Chi. Now the filmmaker is ensuring the presence of Trevor Slattery once again in the Wonder Man series.
