Alicia Vikander is an Academy Award-winning actress who has proved her capabilities as a performer with every film that she takes on. She has a wide emotional range, and she knows how to transform into each character that she plays. Alicia Vikander starred in Roar Uthaug’s Tomb Raider based on the video game series of the same name. The actress had some big shoes to fill, following Anjelina Jolie’s performance in the previous films. Although the film was not well received by critics, Vikander did give a good performance and proved that she was perfectly capable of leading in an action film.

8 Anna Karenina

Joe Wright’s Anna Karenina was adapted from the classic Leo Tolstoy novel of the same name. The film follows the romantic relationships and personal turmoils of the titular Anna Karenina (Keira Knightley). Vikander takes on the supporting role of Princess Ekaterina and is an absolute scene-stealer. The film, as whole, is a great adaptation of the novel filled with beautiful cinematography and set designs.

7 Jason Bourne

     Perfect World Pictures  

Paul Greengrass wrote and directed this addition to the famous Jason Bourne franchise. Matt Damon comes back as the skilled assassin and Vikander plays a CIA cyber-security executive attempting to track Bourne down. The film is a solid action flick and one of the best of the series. Greengrass proved, once again, that he is a terrific filmmaker with his unique vision and aesthetics.

6 Burnt

Burnt gives you a deep look into the world of fine dining, following the comeback of a disgraced chef named Alex Jones (Bradley Cooper). The movie isn’t perfect, but Cooper delivers a fierce performance and the film has a lot of heart. Vikander plays Jones’ ex-lover and is the daughter of his mentor. Although she is only in the movie for one scene, you feel her presence throughout the film.

5 The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

Acclaimed filmmaker Guy Ritchie wrote and directed this adaptation of the famous television series of the same name. The Man From U.N.C.L.E. is a high-octane spy thriller following a CIA agent and a KGB operative on a mission to prevent a nuclear disaster. Vikander plays a British spy named Gaby Teller, and she created a charismatic character with a lot of depth. The movie is a fascinating look into the world of espionage.

4 The Light Between Oceans

Acclaimed filmmaker Derek Cianfrance tells a story of a couple, played by Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander, who take in an abandoned child and have to deal with the consequences. Rachel Weisz plays the child’s birth mother who enters the couple’s life. The Light Between Oceans is a heartbreaking and dramatic tale filled with love and tragedy. Fassbender and Vikander give fantastic dramatic performances, and their chemistry was top-notch.

3 The Danish Girl

Vikander took home the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her brilliant performance in Tom Hooper’s The Danish Girl. Vikander plays the supportive wife of Einar Wegener, after he decides to transition to a woman in 1926. It is a heartbreaking tale, and Redmayne and Vikander are fantastic from beginning to end. Hooper used his distinct filmmaking talent to tell an important story about transgender individuals.

2 Blue Bayou

Justin Chon wrote, directed, and starred in the captivating film Blue Bayou following a Korean-American man struggling to provide for his family after being a victim of police brutality. Vikander plays his caring and supportive wife who is also struggling with the racial prejudice that haunts her husband. Chon proved his capabilities as a filmmaker and both Chon and Vikander give terrific performances filled with chemistry.

Alex Garland brings us to the world of artificial intelligence with his acclaimed film, Ex Machina. Vikander plays an A.I. named Ava who starts a relationship with Caleb (Domhnall Gleeson) during a series of Turing Tests. Vikander delivers a brilliant performance as Ava who is very layered and complex. Oscar Issac plays her genius creator who soon becomes the main antagonist of the film. There are several twists and turns that will have you guessing until the very end.
