Im Yoon-Ah, better known as Yoona, is a member of the girl band Girls’ Generation and one of the industry’s most respected singers and actresses. She received international fame because Girls’ Generation is one of South Korea’s biggest girl groups. She made her acting debut in 2007 with a minor role in MBC’s drama Two Outs In The Ninth Inning. The elegant actress is known for her stellar acting in You Are My Destiny. The TV series received a lot of love, not only from South Korea but also from other Asian countries. 5 Prime Minister and I (2013)

With the star-studded cast of Lee Beom-Soo and Yoon-Ah, this series was directed by Lee So-Yeon and made a very exciting premier in 2013. It follows the story of Prime Minister Kwon Yool (Beom-Soo), the most honest youngest prime minister but a single father of three. Playing the character Nam Da-Jung, Yoon-Ah’s acting skills were again tested by being paired with the respected and famous Lee Beom-Soo. Nam Da-Jung is a young journalist working in a tabloid to pay for her father’s treatment. This lovable drama displayed the most wholesome chemistry between the leads with a slow but compelling building storyline. Yoon-Ah portrayed Da-Jung in the bubbly personality the character is supposed to have and at the same time also showed her humorous charm, especially when she pretends to know Spanish.

She then becomes closer to the family, who start accepting her as their daughter. This wholesome and emotional drama kick-started Yoon-Ah’s career, showing her as an actress capable of doing different genres. Her acting as Sae-Byeok, the bubbly and determined girl who has been through many troubles in life, is an inspiration to many and makes viewers feel her struggles. 3 The King In Love (2016)
This series is directed by Kim Sang-Hyub and has one of the most good-looking casts. Yoon-Ah stars alongside Im Si-Wan and Hong Jong-Hyun in this traditional epic tale of a love triangle. The series follows Eun San (Yoon-Ah), a charming daughter of a noble who hides her real identity. She attracts the crown prince of Goryeo, Wang Won (Si-Wan), and his bodyguard, who is also her childhood friend, Wang Rin (Jong-Hyun). Yoon-Ah portrayed Eun San as a very strong-headed and determined young lady in the Goryeo period. Her character was both lovable and intimidating simultaneously, making viewers intrigued. This spectacular series slowly builds the plot, keeping the suspense about whom she loves till the end.

Directed by Kwak Jung-Hwan, The K2 is a story about Kim Je-Ha (Ji Chang-Wook), an ex-soldier known as K2, who is hired as a bodyguard by a presidential candidate to protect his secret daughter Ko An-Na (Yoon-Ah). The role of An-Na was Yoon-Ah’s comeback after a three-year-long break from acting. Playing a girl who has developed sociophobia, Yoon-Ah embodied all the character’s mannerisms and portrayed them to perfection. She was timid in the starting but soon developed to be confident. The chemistry and love story between An-Na and Je-Ha is to die for, as fans thoroughly enjoyed the action-packed scenes and their romance. She delivered an outstanding performance, further highlighting her versatility.

Big Mouth is an ongoing thriller drama directed by Oh Choong-Hwan, starring Yoon-Ah and Lee Jong-Suk. The just four episodes aired now, the show tells the story of a failed lawyer, Park Chang-Ho (Jong-Suk), known as Big Mouth for being too vocal, and his nurse wife, Go Mi-Ho (Yoon-Ah). Chang-Ho finds himself in a life-threatening position after being confused as a swindler Big Mouse. This quality series is Yoon-Ah’s return to the television screen in a TV show rather than a film. Focussed on a completely different genre, she portrays her character as an extremely headstrong and hardworking nurse. This is probably her best performance after You Are My Destiny as she can shift the aura of the scenes that she acts in by being more serious and natural. With more episodes to be released soon, fans desperately await watching the eye candy couple display their chemistry, suspense, and thrill.
