Since the initial release of season one in June 2019, people have been raving about Euphoria, which has become the most-tweeted-about show of the decade so far. This HBO Max original series is raw, glamorous, dark, and witty all at the same time. Audiences can’t get enough of Jules, Cassie, Fezco, Lexi, Maddy, Nate, Kat, and, of course, Rue who is played by the one and only Zendaya. Viewers have been tuning in every Sunday night to stream new episodes of the show’s second season, which ended in February. The show follows high school students as they battle depression, love, addiction, and the everyday struggles that come with being a teen. While the events that take place may be over-dramatized for entertainment purposes at its core they are based on real problems teens all across the county deal with.

Aside from the eight main characters we all know and love, there are many supporting roles in Euphoria that have a huge influence on the trajectory. Many of the teens’ parents such as Cal Jacobs, Leslie Bennett, and Suze Howard, who have been around since the very beginning of the show, are responsible for some of the most intense and shocking moments in the entire series. Here are all the best-supporting characters in Euphoria, ranked.

8 Laurie

There is no denying how creepy the mysterious and cold drug dealer Laurie is. Portrayed by Martha Kelly, Laurie is one of the villains introduced early on in Euphoria season two. Right off the bat, it’s clear there is something off about this woman, but viewers really became skeptical of how far her character would go in season two, episode 5 after Rue lost the drugs Laurie spotted her and winds up at Laurie’s doorstep trying to make things right. Fan theories swarmed across the internet regarding Laurie and the impact she could possibly have on Rue’s life. This wondering was left unresolved and the possibilities for Laurie in season three of the show are limitless.

7 Cal Jacobs

Most viewers were shocked to see actor Eric Dane play such a grotesque character due to the fact that the majority of people know and love him as Mark Sloan or “McSteamy” for ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy. Cal Jacobs is Nate’s aggressive and overpowering father, who has traumatized his son over the years in some of the most disturbing ways. Cal’s addiction to having violent affairs and his deep self-loathing have caused tension within his family, and no matter how hard he tries to hide his real identity, his truth becomes ultimately inevitable. No matter how much audiences hate Nate throughout the show, we are reminded that he is only the way he is because of Cal.

6 Leslie Bennett

After losing her husband to cancer, Leslie finds her teenage daughter, Rue, is abusing drugs and falling into a deep depression. While dealing with her own grief, Leslie does all that she can to help Rue and save her daughter from this dark hole. Leslie’s primary purpose in the show is to serve as an example of what effects addiction can have on a user’s entire family. Constant worrying, fighting, loss of trust, and shame fill the Bennetts’ house through the entirety of seasons one and two.

5 Faye

She may seem like an unreliable drug addict, but Faye’s role in the show becomes much bigger towards the end of season two. In the business Fezco and his brother Ashtray are involved with, you constantly have to be on high alert, making sure no one untrustworthy knows what you’re up to. When Faye’s boyfriend makes it known that he is working with the police to get Fez and Ash locked up for murder, Faye does all she can to help the two. Even though she may not have been successful, and we are still devastated over the outcome, Faye isn’t to blame for what took place in the season two finale.

4 Suze Howard

She may be an alcoholic with a desperate need for attention and is definitely not the best role model in the world, but there is no denying that Suze has some hilarious moments throughout the show. From her reaction to Lexi’s play at the end of season two to her viral one-liner about Cassie “Oh, she needs a f-king exorcism,” people love Suze more and more each episode.

3 Gia Bennett

If there’s one person Rue’s addiction has been the hardest on, it’s her younger sister Gia. Gia’s life is flipped upside down after losing her father to cancer and basically losing her sister to drugs in the same year. Rue completely abandons her personality when she is using and watching Gia witness her sister unravel is one of the most heartbreaking moments in the show. No matter how much Gia begs, Rue can’t seem to stay clean for her sister, her mom, or herself. Even though she is a supporting character in the show, we are excited to see how Gia is further developed in the coming season, considering her story has the potential to grow tremendously.

2 Ali Muhammad

The relationship Rue has with her sponsor Ali is one of the most important friendships in her life. Ali keeps it real and is never afraid to tell Rue or anyone else the truth when it comes to using and how hard the recovery process can be. It’s clear from the start that his intentions are only to help and make up for his own dark past. Rue isn’t always so accepting of Ali’s help and has come back at him more times than we can count yet despite all this he is always there.

1 Ashtray

     HBO

Coming in at number one on the list of best-supporting characters in Euphoria is Ashtray. Even though he doesn’t have many lines, Ashtray’s impact on the show was immense and has been responsible for some of the most intense and heartbreaking moments in the entire series. Fez and Ashtray’s relationship was one of the truest and most special connections in the show. Even if they weren’t blood, they were always brothers and would do anything for one another. In the darkest of times, the two would sacrifice themselves in an instant to save the other. Ashtray’s most unexpected and devastating moment in the show is during Season two, episode eight, during a Euphoria scene we will never forget.
