AppleTV+ was just handed a number of Golden Globe nominations, thanks to series like Severance and Black Bird. The popular streamer won big at both the Primetime Emmy Awards and the Oscars this past year, including a Best Picture win for CODA. While not every show can be as awarded as Ted Lasso, AppleTV+ has nonetheless produced a number of great TV shows in its few years as a streaming service. And we can’t wait to see what’s in store for the future, including a new travel show featuring Eugene Levy and a new film starring another Schitt’s Creek star, Annie Murphy.
Several acclaimed series are returning an additional season in January 2023. Here’s a closer look at what’s to come on the television front, which includes some highly anticipated new series as well. The first month of the new year will certainly be a busy one for Apple TV+!

Mythic Quest Season 3 Finale — January 6
Lionsgate Television
And then there’s Mythic Quest, whose finale arrives at the start of the new year. The streamer’s hit comedy series hails from the creators of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and follows a fictional game development company that must work together to expand and improve their game. But of course, chaos often ensues. Mythic Quest breathes new life into the workplace-comedy subgenre by bringing us into a newer and popular environment. The show has now aired for almost three full seasons, with two special episodes. A fourth installment is also in the works, and we can’t wait for more.
Servant Season 4 Premiere — January 13
Blinding Edge Pictures
Featuring a talented cast including Harry Potter’s Rupert Grint, Servant is a multilayered tragic but horrifying tale. The series tells the story of a successful, career-driven woman (Lauren Ambrose) whose world crumbles when she suffers a devastating loss. The loss catapults her down a twisted hole breaking something in her, notably her ability to decipher reality for fiction. Her grief then takes on a life of its own as we watch a sort of changeling enter the picture — without giving too much away for those who haven’t jumped in yet. Servant was renewed for a Season 2 well before its premiere season aired, and now we’re already waiting on the safely-assumed-to-be excellent fourth (and final) installment.
Truth Be Told Season 3 Premiere — January 20
Hello Sunshine
The podcast medium has taken modern society by storm, hasn’t it? Truth Be Told is based on the best-selling novel Are You Sleeping by Kathleen Barber and follows a true-crime podcaster Poppy (Octavia Spencer) who risks everything in her life to pursue the truth and bring justice. Each new season shares a different narrative while featuring new actors alongside her. The upcoming brand-new season will see Poppy focus on a new case. Gabrielle Union joined the series to play an outspoken high school principal who becomes embroiled in a problematic incident. Past stars include Aaron Paul, Lizzy Caplan and Kate Hudson.
“You can expect a propulsive story, great acting, laughter and tears,” Spencer recently told People Magazine about the upcoming installment. “Playing Poppy, I finally understand the meaning of the adage ’the road to hell is paved with good intentions.’ Poppy has had many good intentions.”
Shrinking Series Premiere — January 27
Warner Bros. Television
Shrinking is an upcoming Apple TV+ original helmed by Jason Segel, Harrison Ford, and Jessica Williams. Per Deadline, the highly anticipated series tells the comedic story of a therapist who suddenly decides to tell the unabashed truth — much to the chagrin of his coworkers. While each therapist in the practice uses different techniques with their clients, the sudden shift from their coworker is a stark departure from their education, training and licensure. Ford plays another doctor described as a “blue collar shrink,” who has recently been diagnosed with Parkinson’s, forcing him outside his physical and emotional comfort zone as he’s made to grapple with his estranged family and friends. We can’t wait to see what’s in store for a series stacked with veteran movie-stars.
