Winter is coming — but before then, some highly anticipated television series are hitting one of our favorite streaming platforms. HBO Max is home to both Max Originals as well as the endless stream of content featured on HBO from the past decades. Here’s a closer look at what’s new and available to stream on HBO Max in August 2022. Are you not entertained?

Industry Season 2 — August 5

Any fans of cutthroat workplace dramas out there? Industry follows a group of young graduates attempting to endure the choppy waters of the finance world as they fight to keep their jobs at an investment bank in London. We’re more than ready for season 2, especially given that it’s been two long years since the first season hit the masses. The cast of is headed by Marisa Abela as a bilingual graduate from a wealthy background, Myha’la Herrold (also co-starring in A24’s upcoming Bodies Bodies Bodies) as a graduate from New York with a shady past, and Harry Lawtey as a hard-partying Oxford graduate.

Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Detroit Lions Season 17 — August 9

Do you have what it takes to train with the big leagues? Hard Knocks will prove it’s next to impossible. For its upcoming 17th season, HBO Sports and NFL Films partnered with the Detroit Lions for an unfiltered all-access look at what it takes to make it in the NFL. It’s the first sports-based reality series dating back to the early 2000s and one of the fastest-turnaround programs on TV. The upcoming five-episode season will surely be a hit for hardcore football fans.

Selena + Chef Season 4 — August 20

Selena Gomez is everywhere these days. In addition to her awards-caliber turn in Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building and Grammy-worthy music, she stars in an unscripted cooking series filmed in her home. Each episode of Selena + Chef features the musician-actress tackling a new cuisine and guest stars a different professional chef, where they cover tips and tricks and how to deal with disasters in the kitchen. For each episode, the show donates $10,000 to the charity of the chef’s choice. The third season concluded last November, and fans have been eagerly waiting to see Gomez whip up some new dishes.

House of the Dragon Series Premiere — August 21

Spinoffs were surely inevitable for George R.R. Martin’s franchise that has journeyed from text to the small screen. House of the Dragon is a prequel to the wildly successful Game of Thrones, which aired from 2011-2019 — and HBO surely wants to replicate its success with the new series. The show, which follows House Targaryen 200 years before the events of Thrones, is primed to be the biggest show the streaming provider has seen since the original GOT series. The series stars Paddy Considine, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, and Matt Smith, among others.

House of Ho Season 2 — August 25

First it was Kardashian, now it’s Ho. Season 2 of HBO Max’s entertaining docuseries about a filthy-rich Vietnamese family will certainly continue its mark on the reality genre of television. House of Ho follows the Ho family led by patriarch Binh and his wife Hue as they live out the American Dream in real-time. The storyline focuses on the traditions brought back by the immigrant family, their multigenerational perspectives on life in America and, of course, the drama that ties it all together.
