Hulu is looking to start off 2023 strong with a handful of new TV series dropping throughout the month of January. New series as well as additional seasons of beloved originals are all planning to make their way to the streaming service next month. The month will kick off with a new animated series, Koala Man, which features a family father who solves crimes as his alternate identity, Koala Man.
Hulu also looks to add to its catalog of true crime series with the arrival of How I Caught My Killer. The true-crime series takes a look at nine homicides that have occurred in America over the past years. Already a fan favorite, How I Met Your Father is back for its second season. The weekly episodes will take viewers into the month of June! Then, Hulu will wrap up its month with a docuseries titled The 1619 Project. The docuseries is an expansion piece from the New York Times.

Koala Man Series Premiere — January 9

Hulu’s newest animated series comes on January 9, 2023, with its release of Koala Man. All eight episodes of the first season will air at once. Michael Cusack’s series follows a family father who lives a not-so-secret life as Koala Man, a hero who likes to solve petty crimes. Hugh Jackman, Jemaine Clement, Hugo Weaving, and Miranda Otto are among the stars who are set to guest appear during the first season.
How I Caught My Killer Series Premiere — January 12
How I Caught My Killer is a new docuseries coming to Hulu on January 12, 2023. The true-crime series highlights the real-life stories behind homicide cases. The episodes will include interviews, authentic material, and cinematic recreations of the story. There will be nine stories told over the nine episodes. At this time, it is unknown whether all episodes will air at once or will follow a weekly schedule.
How I Met Your Father Season 2 Premiere — January 24

The second season of How I Met Your Father will drop on January 24, 2023. The second season comprises a total of 20 episodes, all of which will be released on a weekly schedule running into June 2023. The series is a reboot of the popular show, How I Met Your Mother, only the Hulu series takes place eight years after the finale, and it is already known that the “father” is a current character. The series includes a cast of Hilary Duff, Chris Lowell, Francia Raisa, Tom Ainsley, Tien Tran, and Suraj Sharma. The story is told from 58-year-old Sophie’s (played by Kim Cattrall) point of view.
The 1619 Project Series Premiere — January 26
The 1619 Project is another new docuseries coming to Hulu on January 26. The series is based on a book of the same name by Nikole Hannah-Jones, a journalist from the New York Times who, back in 2019, took on the hard-hitting story of reframing the country’s history of slavery and the contributions of Black Americans at the center of the U.S.’ national narrative. The six-part docuseries will be a continuation of Hannah-Jones’ story. Hannah-Jones both produced the series and will lead the series as the host. Oprah Winfrey is another notable producer.
