Although Netflix got very close to losing its credibility this year, the streaming platform has managed to keep its top position with series like Wednesday, Monster Dahmer, The Sandman, All of Us Are Dead, and, of course, Stranger Things Season 4, and many more. Many of these TV series took the internet by storm throughout 2022 and managed to break many records.

A new year is ahead of us, and we’re curious whether Netflix will manage to keep the interest of its audience even in the future. Here is a list of the best TV series coming to the streaming platform in January 2023.

Kaleidoscope Series Premiere — January 1

     Netflix

Releasing on the first day of the new year of 2023, the new anthology series Kaleidoscope will see Giancarlo Esposito as the boss of the biggest heist in history. The reason for its anthology structure is to properly tell the story of a heist that’s been 25 years in the making. A talented cast of names such as Paz Vega, Rufus Sewell, Tati Gabrielle, Peter Mark Kendall, and many others will join Esposito as the epically smart heist crew. The creator of the show Eric Garcia, also known for Jigsaw, gave an insight on the inspiration for the story (via Netflix Tudum): ““After Hurricane Sandy, $70 billion worth of bonds got flooded in the basement of the DTCC, which is a large clearing effort that’s owned by a bunch of the big banks.” Perhaps the biggest draw of Kaleidoscope is that it will reportedly “stream differently for each viewer” (via Just Jared) in that subscribers can choose their own order of watching the episodes.

After years of trying to escape the past, the family decides to set their roots in a picturesque New England town. Given the shocking cliffhanger finale in Season 1, it’s worth getting excited about for the upcoming season. The official synopsis reads: “Burdened with the new understanding that Kenny — her step-dad — didn’t die of natural causes, now Ginny must deal with the fact that Georgia not only killed, she killed to protect Ginny.” Get your popcorn ready.

The Walking Dead Season 11 Premiere — January 6

     AMC

Running for 12 years is a no small feat for a TV show, and The Walking Dead has managed to do just that. The post-apocalyptic horror series has always revolved around various survivors of a zombie apocalypse and their attempts to find safety and resources as they fight to stay alive. The final 11th season consisting of 24 episodes premiered on AMC in August 2021 and concluded in November 2022. Those with no access to AMC haven’t had the chance to watch it legally. However, the wait is over as the final season is finally coming to Netflix on January 6. Those disappointed with the show’s cancelation, don’t fret! New spin-off series, such as The Walking Dead: Dead City, are soon to be released.

The Makanai: Cooking for the Maiko House Series Premiere — January 12

The show is set to reunite most of the old cast, and will also introduce a fresh new batch of young talent. Many stay skeptical of the revival, but many also can’t wait for the sense of nostalgia that’s about to enter their lives.
