Influenced by the life of professional American football player Spencer Paysinger, The CW’s All American takes the viewers on a journey that follows Spencer James (Daniel Ezra), a footballer from South L.A., who gets recruited by a coach expat of the same game and is made to shift schools situated in the lavish neighborhood of Beverly Hills. A treat for all young football fans, All American is also liked by the audience for Spencer’s journey, which is not exactly a bed of roses. Although the TV series is focused on Spencer Paysinger, it also takes turns to tell the stories of other football-surrounded characters in the show. All American has successfully premiered five seasons, with excellent young talent starring in it. Set in the 80s, GLOW takes an unexpected yet fun take on wrestling, where a bunch of out-of-work Hollywood ladies must enter a wrestling competition to take another shot at stardom. Netflix’s unusual choice of wrestling as its focus gives a wonderful ride to its viewers by throwing light on other topics such as class, religion, and race. Moreover, the comedy-drama also subtly discussed the realities of what it’s like to be a working woman and athlete. Indeed, the empowering women of the show are another highlight of the series; they continuously ignite the perfectly written script in every scene. The drama ran for three seasons with an impeccable cast, including Alison Brie, Betty Gilpin, Sydelle Noel, Britney Young, Sunita Mani, and Marc Maron.

4 One Tree Hill (2003)
