While Better Call Saul didn’t have the best night at the Golden Globe Awards, the series will be getting some more recognition elsewhere. After the Golden Globes aired on Tuesday evening, featuring two nominations but zero wins for Better Call Saul, the show has been nominated for three new awards courtesy of the Screen Actors Guild. At the SAG Awards, the show has garnered new acclaim for its cast with a nomination for Best Ensemble in a Drama Series, going up against The Crown, Ozark, Severance, and The White Lotus.
There are two other noms for Better Call Saul with two of the show’s stars competing for the same category. For Best Actor in a Drama Series, Bob Odenkirk has been nominated for his role as Jimmy McGill, aka Saul Goodman, alongside Jonathan Banks for his role as fan favorite Mike Ehrmantraut. Also nominated for that award are Jason Bateman for Ozark, Jeff Bridges for The Old Man, and Adam Scott for Severance.

This is certainly excellent news for fans of the show, and while there are no guarantees the show will win, the nominations are still meaningful. With that said. The series still has yet to win at the SAG Awards, same as it has with the Primetime Emmy Awards (where it’s earned 46 nominations with zero wins) and the Golden Globes (with another winless six nominations). Odenkirk was previously nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Drama Series on four previous occasions in 2016, 2018, 2019, and 2021. Better Call Saul was also nominated for Best Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series in 2019 and 2021.
You can see the full list of nominees at the official website for the SAG Awards.
Better Call Saul Has Been Highly Acclaimed

Award wins are nice, but they don’t affect the quality of any given series. Better Call Saul is no less enjoyable to those who watched the Breaking Bad spinoff for all six seasons before it wrapped up its run in 2022. And even with certain award shows never giving the series a win, Better Call Saul has won awards at others, such as the American Film Institute Awards, the Critics’ Choice TV Awards, and the Saturn Awards, among others. The series has also concluded with a sky-high 98% score on Rotten Tomatoes with an audience score that’s also almost perfect at 96%.
Meanwhile, the Breaking Bad franchise seems to have ended with the conclusion of Better Call Saul with no plans at this time to develop any new spinoffs set in that world. But the characters will forever remain in pop culture with occasional reappearances, as Bryan Cranston will soon return as Walter White in a new Super Bowl ad. Maybe Odenkirk’s Jimmy McGill can turn up in another Super Bowl commerical in 2024.
