The plan is to get Dwayne Johnson suited back up for a sequel to Black Adam in the very near future. Featuring Johnson making his debut in the DCEU, Black Adam has spent several years in development, but it’s finally coming to movie theaters this week. It’s too early to tell just yet how well exactly the film will perform at the box office, though it was met with mixed reviews from its early reviews by critics.

Be that as it may, the film’s producers are already looking forward to Black Adam 2. At this time, a sequel hasn’t been officially announced by Warner Bros., though Johnson has been open about his desire to play the character in several films. In an interview with ComicBook.com, producer Beau Flynn teased that the wait for the sequel wouldn’t be long at all, having this to say about when The Rock will be back as Black Adam.

Fellow producer Hiram Garcia also made a promise that the wait would be short for Black Adam 2, even without an official announcement made at this point.

Will Black Adam Get a Sequel?

There are many directions that a sequel to Black Adam will go. Dwayne Johnson has long been teasing an eventual battle between his Black Adam and Henry Cavill’s Superman, with Aldis Hodge recently suggesting that a trilogy of films should lead up to that moment. Johnson has also teased that his anti-hero will have a crossover with Zachary Levi’s Shazam!, showing how ambitious the Black Adam team feels about the future.

Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, Black Adam also brings in many new characters to serve as the JSA, so that opens the door for potential spinoffs as well. Along with The Rock in the lead, the film stars Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Sarah Shahi, Marwan Kenzari, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, and Pierce Brosnan as Dr. Fate. Mo Amer and Bodhi Sabongui also star.
