Black Panther: Wakanda Forever introduces a new world of Wakanda and sets it on a different course as the country struggle to find a new protector and leader. Since T’Challa’s storyline ends in this movie as the character commemorates Chadwick Boseman’s demise, the story of Black Panther takes a unique turn and shifts focus on other associated characters, eventually handing over the mantle of Wakanda’s protector to someone new.

And that’s the reason that Marvel Studios has not officially greenlit Black Panther 3. Talking to Collider, producer Nate Moore spoke about a potential third film while also saying that Marvel Studios has not yet decided where to take Black Panther ahead in the MCU as they are still waiting for the audience’s response towards Wakanda Forever. Moore was asked if the studio would take three to four years for the third feature film in this series or if we would get to see the new Panther earlier this time. To this, Moore replied:

Further, confirming that there are ideas for a potential third film, he added:

That’s a great question. To be honest, this is not me trying to not answer the question. We really want to see how audiences receive the film, and I think Ryan’s really interested to see how the film plays before we decide.

Wakanda Forever is already topping charts of must-see productions to vouch for this year. The film’s trailers have received much praise, and people shall fill theaters to show their love for Chadwick Boseman. But, from a business point-of-view, it’s better to gauge how fans perceive this story’s new direction. Furthermore, taking the plans for MCU as a shared continuity, it’s essential to wait for the right moment before Black Panther 3 finds its place in the timeline.

There are certainly ideas we’ve floated around of what a third film could be if we get to make it. But until the movie comes out, we’re a bit superstitious in that way. We don’t want to count our chickens, because you never know what’s going to happen.
