Black Panther: Wakanda Forever arrives in cinemas this November to round out Phase 4 of the MCU before Phase 5 kicks off early next year with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Although there have been some ups and downs over the last two years, the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s return to Wakanda has a lot of expectation on it to be as popular as its predecessor, as well as delivering a movie worthy of the legacy of Chadwick Boseman. One of the biggest questions about the film, is who will be taking over the Black Panther role by the final act, and according to Lupita Nyong’o and Danai Gurira no theories have managed to get “all of it right.”

Ever since it became apparent that Marvel Studios would not be recasting the role of T’Challa following the death of Chadwick Boseman, fans immediately began speculating on which character would be the next Black Panther. Theories have done the rounds on the internet about pretty much every possible option of how the rise of a new hero could happen, but while talking to Elle, Nyong’o and Gurira teased that people still are not quite there yet. They said:
Nyong’o: “We love the speculation.”
Gurira: “They’re not getting all of it right!“
Nyong’o : “No, they haven’t guessed it at all.”
The New Black Panther Will Take Wakanda Forward In The MCU
Marvel Studios
A new trailer was released last week for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and with just over a month until the film debuts in cinemas, there is still plenty of time for fans to continue to speculate over the identity of the new Black Panther. While it has been heavily predicted that this will fall to Shuri, with a new LEGO set even seeming to suggest this outcome, could it be possible that the film will end up seeing more than one character holding the Black Panther title before the end of the movie, which seems to be one of the longest of the Phase.
Of course, there is much more to Black Panther: Wakanda Forever than the franchise’s future, as it will also be a poignant goodbye to T’Challa, and to Chadwick Boseman and that will be a big pull for audiences to go and see the movie. Franchise star Letitia Wright has previously spoken about how the movie was made as a “love letter” to the deceased actor. She said:
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will release on November 11, 2022
“Well, firstly I can tell you, you know, the first movie did so well. You know, we made a cultural impact and change. And this film is… We’re trying to follow that, you know, of inspiring everybody that goes to see it. We have new cast members, such as Dominique Thorne, Michaela Coel. So it’s jam-packed with lots of adventures. I feel, for me, it’s a beautiful contribution to Chadwick’s legacy. I feel like it’s a love letter to him. I know every day that I went on set, I focused my energy on – on each scene to dedicate it to him. I wanted to dedicate excellence to this film so that he could be proud.”
