The first reactions to the highly anticipated Marvel sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, are in and praise the MCU outing as one of the most powerful and poignant installments in the long-running franchise. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever premiered yesterday, and the reactions, and more crucially, the praise, have been pouring onto social media ever since.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is “hugely ambitious & thematically rewarding,” says one early reaction, with another adding that the Marvel sequel is “wondrous” and a “beautiful tribute to Boseman’s legacy.”

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will tackle the real-life death of beloved actor Chadwick Boseman, with the role of T’Challa not being recast. “Black Panther Wakanda Forever makes it clear how precious Chadwick Boseman and T’Challa were to the MCU,” says one reaction, adding that his absence is sometimes an issue.

It certainly sounds like Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will be worthy of the hype, as well as being a worthy tribute to the late, great Chadwick Boseman. Beyond that, these reactions tease a Marvel outing that both builds on the franchise while telling an effective, standalone story.

Marvel Studios’ Black Panther: Wakanda Forever finds the nation of Wakanda and Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Shuri (Letitia Wright), M’Baku (Winston Duke), Okoye (Danai Gurira) and the Dora Milaje (including Florence Kasumba) fighting to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death. As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must band together with the help of War Dog Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) and Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) and forge a new path for the kingdom of Wakanda after the nation finds itself under attack from a threat from beneath the sea. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will expand the Marvel Cinematic Universe, introducing Namor the Submariner in his live-action debut. A character who is expected to play a major role in the franchise going forward.

Directed by Ryan Coogler, who has co-written the screenplay with Joe Robert Cole, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever stars Letitia Wright as Shuri, Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia, Danai Gurira as Okoye, Winston Duke as M’Baku, Florence Kasumba as Ayo, Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams aka Ironheart, Michaela Coel as Aneka, Tenoch Huerta as Namor, Martin Freeman as Everett K. Ross, and Angela Bassett as Ramonda. Additionally, the rest of the supporting cast will include Isaach de Bankolé, Dorothy Steel, Danny Sapani, Mabel Cadena, Alex Livinalli, Kamaru Usman, and Richard Schiff.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is scheduled to be released in the United States on November 11, 2022, as the final film in Phase Four of the MCU.
