An apparent leaked production listing for Marvel Studios Blade has seemingly revealed the plot synopsis for the upcoming reboot. The listing confirms several of the names already revealed to be involved in the project, including lead actor Mahershala Ali and supporting star Delroy Lindo, as well as director Bassam Tariq, screenwriter Stacy Osei-Kuffour, and producer Kevin Feige.

While this supposed synopsis reveals little about any specific plot details, it does confirm that the general outline will follow quite closely with the character’s origins from the pages of Marvel comics, as well as the previous Blade adaptation. Ali’s vampire hunter will once again be known to the undead as the legendary “Daywalker” due to his ability to survive in sunlit (rather than being burnt to a crisp), with the human/vampire hybrid, whose mother was bitten by a vampire while pregnant, having decided to use his special set of skills to wage a vendetta against the blood-sucking villains.

“Himself a half-human/half-vampire, “Daywalker” Eric Brooks (Ali) has honed his abilities to hunt down the undead who have long terrorized mankind. A human-vampire hybrid since his tragic birth, Blade has spent his long life seeking to rid the world of vampires like the one that killed his mother. Over the years, he has mastered his own style of fighting monsters of all kinds.”

Along with the talent involved and the brief-yet-promising logline, the listing also explains that Marvel’s Blade is slated to begin production at Trilith Studios in Atlanta in the late summer of 2022, which tracks with previous reports claiming that the movie will be ready to begin production next year.

Blade has already made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut during one of the two post-credits scenes at the end of the recent cosmic outing, Eternals. While the character has not yet appeared physically, audiences were treated to Mahershala Ali’s off-screen voice asking Kit Harington’s Dane Whitman whether he is really ready to wield the coveted Ebony Blade.

Though the details outlined in the plot synopsis appear to be quite familiar to anyone with even a scant understanding of what Blade is all about, director Bassam Tariq has teased the potential for change thanks to the character’s lack of canon. “Character is very important for me,” the filmmaker said of adapting the Marvel antihero. “I don’t think of genre, I think of character. It’s not so boxed in as people imagine it to be [working with Marvel Studios]. It’s quite exciting. And I think the reality is there is no ‘Blade’ canon, you know? If you ever read the comics, they’re always changing…Unfortunately, the [comic book series] never lasted that long.”

Blade has of course already been the subject of a hugely successful franchise, with star Wesley Snipes recently revealing what he believes will make the reboot equally as beloved by audiences. “My question is not with him, it’s the people around him,” Snipes said of Ali taking over the title role. “It takes something great and very special to make an iconic film. And you don’t even know if it’s gonna be iconic until it’s done. The people decide it. . . I want the same reaction we got with the versions we did. Audiences in the theater were yelling and clapping. I’m looking for that.” This comes to us from Moviebuff1219.
