The chances of Nobody 2 happening are looking pretty good. The original film, released in 2021, is directed by Ilya Naishuller (Hardcore Henry) and written by John Wick creator Derek Kolstad. Bob Odenkirk stars in the lead role as a seemingly ordinary family man who returns to his dangerous former life after his house is robbed, making him the target of a drug lord. Connie Nielsen, RZA, Christopher Lloyd, and Aleksei Serebryakov also star.
Nobody was a hit when it was released as fans and critics were impressed with Odenkirk’s surprisingly convincing portrayal as an action movie star, as this was new territory for the actor. In fact, many were left wanting to see more with the hopes that Odenkirk would return for a sequel. In a recent interview with Empire, Odenkirk provided an update on Nobody 2. While the potential sequel hasn’t been officially greenlit by Universal, Kolstad and Odenkirk are “absolutely” working on the follow-up film.
In 2021, director Ilya Naishuller similarly suggested that there’s room to move forward with the Nobody story. The director also teased that Connie Nielsen would have a lot more screen time in the planned follow-up film with a much bigger presence alongside Odenkirk. No additional plot points have been revealed.
“Let’s make Nobody 2, and I’m going to kick more ass than I ever have. We are working on making that happen. Universal has been very upbeat and welcoming. Derek [Kolstad, screenwriter] and I have talked story. It’s not a sure thing yet, but we’re working on it. I think the signs point to yes.”
Bob Odenkirk Will First Say Goodbye to Saul Goodman Before Nobody 2 Can Be Made
AMC
One character we know Bob Odenkirk has revisited is Better Call Saul’s central character Jimmy McGill, aka Saul Goodman. Since 2014, Odenkirk has been starring in the series, which is a spinoff of its parent series Breaking Bad. The sixth and final season was just recently given a premiere date, with the beginning of the end coming to AMC in April. While working on the final season, Odenkirk had suffered a well-publicized heart attack, and the actor feels lucky he just so happened to be with his co-stars at the time.
“I’m good,” Odenkirk adds in his new Empire interview of the health scare. “I was very, very lucky in that I had a heart attack near my co-stars. I didn’t go to my trailer, and also we weren’t on location. If we’d been on location, I probably wouldn’t be here talking to you. If I’d gone to my trailer, I wouldn’t be here talking to you right now.”
He added, “In the morning, they did the surgery at Presbyterian Hospital here. They have wonderful heart surgeons here, the best in the world, and they did a f**king amazing job. They blew out the plaque and put in stents and I’m doing great.”
Better Call Saul will return with its sixth and final season April 18, 2022 on AMC.
