Though their bombastic personalities would likely begin to grate on you after a fashion, any fan of Bob’s Burgers would love to meat (if you can excuse the pun) the Belcher family. Who wouldn’t want to eat one of Bob’s delicious burgers, which feature unique toppings, bust out a tune on the keyboard with Gene, or hear one of the handwritten tales from Tina’s volumes of erotic friend fiction? However, though the family is definitely enthralling, it could be the lesser-known folks who call the unnamed seaside townhome that keep audiences coming back for more.

Over the years, Bob’s Burgers has introduced audiences to an eclectic bunch of characters, including a towering, androgynous woman named Marshmallow, who is often clad in a skimpy white singlet, Nat the limousine chauffer, who is overly investigated in the affairs of the family, the Belcher’s sociopathic dentist Mr. Yap, and Jessica, the utterly ineffectual babysitter, to name a few. The series has been running for nearly a decade, and the list of supplemental characters has grown incredibly long. It would be impossible to feature all of them in the upcoming installment of the show. Still, audiences can hope to see some of their favorites get involved in the new episode storylines.

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

Here are a few side characters we want to see return in Bob’s Burgers season 13.

The Return of Jimmy Pesto (With a New Voice)

Jimmy Pesto was only seen momentarily in The Bob’s Burgers Movie and didn’t speak at all. The character was also missing from season twelve. Jimmy owns Jimmy Pesto’s Pizzeria, a popular Italian joint located across the street from Bob’s Burgers, and has long been Bob Belcher’s primary rival. However, the series creators had good reason to leave him out of recent installments. Jay Johnston, the comic actor who had voiced Jimmy Pesto since the very first season of the show, was involved with the Capitol riot on January 6th, 2021.

Jimmy Pesto has always been the bad guy, constantly tormenting Bob, but it is safe to say that Johnston’s actions go far beyond the two father’s restaurant rivalry. However, Pesto is an important character in the series, so the showrunners might want to consider finding another actor to voice him. Season 13 could feature a plotline that would necessitate the Pesto moving away, thus making a replacement only a momentary requirement; his restaurant could close down or move locations. His son, Jimmy Pesto Jr., has long been a love interest of Tina Belcher, so while Bob would be delighted by Jimmy Pesto’s Pizzeria moving locations or shutting down entirely, his daughter would be devastated.

Mickey, Everyone’s Favorite Carny Con Man

The dark truths of a carny’s life can make for incredibly macabre entertainment. However, for one Bob’s Burgers character, becoming a carny represented a new lease on life. Mickey was once a criminal. In his first appearance, which comes in the episode “Bob Day Afternoon,” he robs a bank, and later, in “Bob Fires the Kids,” he attempts to tunnel through the Belcher’s basement into the very same bank. Later, it is revealed that he was hired at Wonder Wharf and has slowly begun to reform himself.

When Mickey first appeared on Bob’s Burgers, he was originally voiced by Bill Hader, but the actor was unavailable for season 12, as well as The Bob’s Burgers Movie, so John Kubin has taken on the role. Currently, it seems like Mickey has put his criminal past behind him, but there is no telling what dark figures from his past could return, so season 13 could potentially see the Belcher family having to help Mickey stay on the straight and narrow.

Filmmaker Extraordinaire Randy

Randy has been a part of Bob’s Burgers since season one. In the episode “Sacred Cow,” he drops off a cow in front of the family’s restaurant and makes a documentary about the morality of eating meat, which obviously affects the restaurant’s business. Later, he shoots the Bob’s Burgers Superbowl commercial, attempts to capture footage of the mysterious Wolf of Wharf Street, and films a semi-autobiographical film with the restaurant as a setpiece. Randy is voiced by Paul F. Tompkins, who recently portrayed a gruff, hirsute carny in The Bob’s Burgers Movie.

Aside from his characteristic green ball cap, Randy wears many hats. In one episode, he even runs a food truck. It has been established that he relies upon a hefty trust fund, so there is no telling what Randy might be up to if he were to return in season 13.

This beloved animated has introduced more characters than one could even count. Hopefully, Bob’s Burgers season 13 will let fans see a few of their favorites.
