Fans are celebrating the 15th anniversary on Breaking Bad. Created by Vince Gilligan, the series premiered on AMC on Jan. 20, 2008, ultimately spanning five seasons before wrapping up its run in 2013. During that time, the series garnered immense accolades and an established reputation as one of the greatest TV shows of all time. And it all began with that pilot episode, introducing Bryan Cranston as high school teacher and future drug kingpin Walter White.
“I refuse to believe it but Breaking Bad premiered on AMC 15 years ago today,” as one tweet reads. “Vince Gilligan and co. changed TV forever in my eyes, developing an S-tier universe of characters.”
Another tweet posted by a fan account adds, “15 years ago Breaking Bad aired his pilot episode. History of TV changed forever. Top 3 of best tv shows ever and is not debatable.”

Sony Pictures Television
Breaking Bad’s legacy endures, even with the show ending a decade ago. In the years since, its leads have reprised their roles for special appearances, including cameos in the final season of Better Call Saul last year. They’ll soon be back together once again as it was recently revealed that Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul will return as Walt and Jesse in a Super Bowl ad for PopCorners.
In the series, high school chemistry teacher Walter White (Cranston) is diagnosed with lung cancer. To pay his medical bills and ensure his family is provided for after his death, Walter falls onto his chemistry knowledge to start producing high-quality meth with the help of former student Jesse Pinkman (Paul), hoping to keep his criminal activity hidden from his wife Skyler (Anna Gunn), son Walter Jr. (RJ Mitte), and, most especially, his brother-in-law Hank (Dean Norris). The series also stars Betsy Brandt, Bob Odenkirk, Jonathan Banks, Giancarlo Esposito, Steven Michael Quezada, Matt Jones, Charles Baker, Laura Fraser, and Mark Margolis.
