The hit TV show Breaking Bad has been getting a lot of love from fans online in honor of its 15th anniversary, and the attention hasn’t gone unnoticed by those behind the show. Created by Vince Gilligan, Breaking Bad first premiered on AMC on Jan. 20, 2008. The series, starring Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul as an unlikely team of meth cooks, would go on to forever change television, still standing tall as one of the most critically-acclaimed and beloved TV shows of all time.
On the show’s official Twitter account, a video was shared of Gilligan addressing the fans. The creative genius says he wanted to shoot a video in honor of the anniversary as a way of letting fans know, joking that the federal government has “made a national holiday” of the occasion. Gilligan goes on to unbox a Breaking Bad item for the fans, revealing one of the show’s most iconic props that was given to him on teh final day of shooting by costume designer Jennifer Bryan. He puts it on a shelf along with several other Breaking Bad mementos that serve as a part of his collection.
“I just want to say thank you to everybody who got us here, who have been fans of the show for all these years,” Gilligan says in the video. “Big shout out to Bryan Cranston, the real one. Bryan and Aaron and the rest of our wonderful cast. We wouldn’t have been anywhere without them, and we wouldn’t have been anywhere without you, the fans. Thank you guys very much, thanks for watching.”
