The second season of Bridgerton is upon us. This time, the focus will be on Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) trying to find a fiancée for himself while, as the trailer illustrates, navigating a love triangle of sorts. Set in the Regency Era, the hit Netflix series wouldn’t be the same without the events of Social Season, a time when different suitors court different ladies in whom they are interested.

Last season, it was Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) who, of the many Bridgerton family members, took to the spotlight in search of courtship and marriage. In fact, when Daphne first meets the Queen (Golda Rosheuvel), she is dubbed her season’s “Incomparable,” firmly putting her at the top of any suitors’ list. Throughout Bridgerton’s first season, Daphne courted many suitors. Here’s where each of them rank.

6 Nigel Berbrooke

Now, where to even start with this despicable man? Nigel Berbrooke (Jamie Beamish) had his eyes set on Daphne ever since she was a small child, which basically means he was secretly grooming her. Out of all the character assassinations Bridgerton has managed to do, one of the worst was Anthony forcing Daphne to marry Sir Berbrooke, despite the apparent age difference and his creepy tendencies.

5 Lord Weaver

     Netflix

There’s not a lot we know about Lord Weaver, other than he tried courting Daphne at one of the events and obviously failed. He approached her while she was mocking the other ladies with Duke Simon and asked for a dance. All we know is that he is said to be a good dancer, but he lacks conversation skills as he struggled to come up with a topic to discuss with Daphne. His character was most definitely used to show the contrast between his self-assurance as he held Daphne’s back as they danced and Simon’s hesitance when it came to openly touching her.

4 Lord Hardy

Yet again, we don’t know much about Lord Hardy. A lot of men approached Anthony and inquired about Daphne, and Lord Hardy was one of them. As many others, he asked Daphne for a dance at one of the events. She was immediately put off by his boastfulness. We all know that Daphne doesn’t care about the material things as much, so as soon as he started talking about all the property he owns, Daphne was evidently repulsed.

3 Lord Ambrose

As soon as Anthony realized that Daphne got the Queen’s approval and was one of the most desirable woman of the season, he made sure to scare everyone off. The moment we noticed that Anthony’s patronizing ways of deciding and thinking for his sister was starting to get on Daphne’s nerves, was when Lord Ambrose approached them at one of the events. As he was about to ask Daphne for a dance and display his interest, Anthony was quickly to call him out in front of everybody. Apparently, Lord Ambrose had a lot of gambling debts that surely wouldn’t be good for the marriage as we saw with the Featheringtons.

2 Prince Friedrich

Freddie Storma, also known for his role of Cormac McLaggen in Harry Potter, has truly done an amazing job portraying Prince Friedrich. The Prince was probably one of the least problematic male characters in season one. He is the ultimate Gentleman as he has been brought up with all the social skills he could ever need, including being an excellent dance partner. He and Daphne were already engaged when she decided to break it off. But instead of getting angry at her, as one of the cliché love triangle tropes often dictates, he was completely understanding of her decision to get engaged to Simon instead. Although Daphne and the Prince worked pretty well together, they weren’t after the same goals. Daphne would never be satisfied in their marriage and, truthfully, she probably doesn’t deserve him. If she wasn’t in love with Simon already, they would have probably been a wonderful couple.

1 Duke Simon

As soon as the fake courting idea was suggested, the whole audience probably knew that one way or another, Daphne and Simon (Regé-Jean Page) were going to catch feelings for each other, despite promising each other otherwise. Now, either you hate their relationship or completely adore it, but you have to admit that the two of them are perfect for each other. Both of them have their own demons to fight and even though their marriage started with the two of them manipulating each other and pulling a con on their friends/family, that is exactly what makes them the ideal match. Daphne didn’t know anything about sex prior to marriage; she only learned it on her wedding night and Simon was using that to his advantage. He was emotionally unavailable for most of the season. And then, we have Daphne who clearly had intercourse with him without his consent and manipulated him into having a child. It seems to us that they found each other at the right time.
