“My dearest reader…” every time Julie Andrews’ melodic voice comes to state this introduction, the audience knows it must prepare itself for entertaining gossip. One of Netflix’s most-watched series, Bridgerton’s new season is finally available to be binged-watched, as of March 25th. Following the second book in the eight-book series, The Viscount Who Loved Me, this season the show will focus on a rather important character in season one: Anthony Bridgerton. The firstborn has a lot of past trauma to deal with as he searches for his Viscountess, and tries to be the head of the family.
The first series in the Shonda Rhimes production company (Shondaland) and Netflix deal was a huge success worldwide. The show was created by showrunner Chris Van Dusen and is considered to be the biggest Netflix series ever, with over 82 million households tuning in during the first four weeks after its release. It enchanted fans of the books and brought new ones to this fantastic world created by best-selling author Julia Quinn. A fan-favorite book, and couple, will shake the upcoming social season in colorful London. A lot of scandalous things happened in season one, though. The world got introduced to the Bridgerton family over one year ago, so here is everything you need to remember to watch the new season of Bridgerton without missing any details.

8 Lady Whistledown, Revealed
Netflix
After much speculation (and investigation on Eloise Bridgerton’s part) the identity of the most well-informed writer of the ton was revealed. A wallflower from the beginning, Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) has everything in her favor to know all the gossip available in London’s high society. Her journey continues in the new season, having to hide from everyone (including her best friend) to continue with her gossip journals. Penelope may be the only thing that can keep the Featheringtons afloat during difficult times.

7 The Featheringtons Are Broke
The Featheringtons are one of the main families the audience followed in the previous season. Penelope, Portia, Prudence, and their cousin, Marina, received loads of attention last social season. Their best fashion moments of season one and their involvement in scandals were the talks of the ton for quite a while. A rather shocking ending for this family occurred at the season finale, though, as Lord Featherington was murdered.
Unfortunately, that is not the only thing this peculiar family will endure in season two: they don’t have a penny to their name. The murder occurred because he lost all the family’s money, including his daughters’ dowries (lowering their chances of getting a respectful match), due to his addiction to betting inside and outside the boxing ring. Now, the Featherington state will be inherited by a man in the family, leaving the mother and three daughters at the mercy of this mysterious man.
6 Colin’s Travels
Since the first episode, Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) declared his enthusiasm to travel. The youngest of the Bridgerton brothers, Colin still has a lot to learn before making lifelong decisions, such as marriage. By the end of the season, mistaking the true meaning behind Penelope’s constant reminder of his love for travels, he decides to embark on his adventure earlier than previously intended. When season two begins, he will have arrived in town after traveling for an extended period of time. Can Lady Whistledown imagine what Colin has been up to?
5 Eloise Will Be Presented To Society
A recipe for tragedy, Eloise Bridgerton (Claudia Jessie) will become a part of society. Eloise finally gave in to her mother’s wishes: she will make her debut this social season, and will be open to having callers and marriage proposals. Her greatest fears will be fulfilled in a room full of ambitious mamas and boring bachelors. She seemed more intrigued by writing, rather than what young ladies ‘should’ be doing — securing a respectable match. Could it be a new plan to uncover who is Lady Whistledown? Her diary? Only time (and maybe Lady Whistledown) will tell.
4 Benedict’s Double Life
Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson), much like Eloise, wants more from life than attending balls and eventually marrying. He is a talented artist who discovered a different kind of life he could have — if he dared to go against society’s demands. He even had a secret love affair with the town’s modiste, Madame Delacroix. Benedict figures out that being the second-born is something he can take a lot of fun from, having all the money and none of the responsibility that falls on Anthony’s shoulders. Will he continue living a double life in this new season or become more like his brother, who finally wishes to settle down?
3 Marina Thompson Left Town
After getting pregnant by her former lover, Miss Thompson (Ruby Barker) finds herself in a difficult situation: pregnancy during the social season. Marina holds onto the hope that the father’s child will help her. However, George is fighting the war in Spain and is not answering her letters. Seeing no other alternative, she tries to seduce Colin Bridgerton to marry her as fast as possible. The plan is uncovered by Lady Whistledown, who reveals her condition on the day the couple would travel to Scotland to marry. Sir Philip, George’s brother, appears with sad news: George was hit on the battlefield and has died. Marina decides to leave London and marry Sir Philip, who will raise the child as his own. Will she be a part of the next social season?
2 Daphne Found Her Match
Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) was the diamond of the season. With impeccable taste and virtue, she only wished for one thing: marry for love. Her dreams for the future were devastated after a night’s walk in the gardens with the Duke (Regé-Jean Page, who may be the new James Bond), alone. What a scandal, indeed! A duel goes wrong, and her fear of complete shame makes the couple get married in a haste.
After a passionate beginning (which had the actor sending nudity warnings to his family), they find themselves amidst lies, realizing that they don’t know anything about each other. After horrible discussions, the couple was able to be honest with one another about past trauma and fears for the future. The Duke of Hastings finally gives in to the idea of a family and a happy marriage at the end of season one. He and Daphne welcomed a beautiful boy.
1 Lord Bridgerton Is Looking For a Wife
Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey), the firstborn of the large Bridgerton family, is not known for his sensitive side. Season two is based on the book that follows his journey in the search for a wife. Taking his future into his own hands, he will leave all troublesome romantic relationships in the past — or try to. As Lady Whistledown stated, “This Author has come to the conclusion that there are rakes, and there are Rakes. Anthony Bridgerton is a Rake.” The Viscount declared that he won’t have trouble regarding this subject anymore, since he figured out the formula for a successful marriage: a lack of love. A rather bold statement to make, but Anthony won’t know what hit him when the Sharma sisters arrive for the social season in London.
