While fan of the Evil Dead should have been basking in the blood-soaked glory of Evil Dead Rise this Halloween, the strategic release change of the movie to a cinematic release means that the latest instalment in the franchise will not hit theaters until April. However, Bruce Campbell couldn’t let the season pass without giving Evil Dead fans a first look at the movie with a creepy, bloody image from the film.

Although Bruce Campbell doesn’t appear in Evil Dead Rise he has been as much a part of the movie’s production as any of the previous Evil Dead movies and TV show. As a producer on the brand new Evil Dead story, alongside original director Sam Raimi, Campbell has been frequently sharing some teases about how he has been adding some essential Evil Dead bits and pieces to the production. From the new image, it looks like just like those previous projects there is going to be plenty of scares and plenty of gore.

Four decades after The Evil Dead became the stuff of horror legend, Evil Dead Rise will bring a new feel to the franchise, with all new characters and more importantly an all new setting. Gone is the infamous cabin in the woods with the action this time around the Deadites of the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis will be invading a suburban tower block and literally taking the horror to a whole new level.

Will Evil Dead Rise Be a Worthy Addition to The Franchise?

The Evil Dead was rebooted in 2013 and although the movie was decent enough, it still fell someway short of the original films and the Ash vs Evil Dead TV series. The main failure of the movie was that it lacked the comedic elements of the Evil Dead franchise, which were as important to the original movie’s success as its horror. It seems that this time around Bruce Campbell has certainly been bringing some flair to the final production. He previously said:

Evil Dead Rise was original set to premiere sometime around now on HBO Max, but test screenings were so well received that the studio made the decision to switch it up to a cinematic release. This means that fans will once again get to see the Deadites raising hell on the big screen, but will have to wait until April 21, 2023 to do so.

“It’s a house of fire is what it is. It’s going to scare the living crap out of you. It’s urban, no cabin in the woods. An urban high-rise apartment is the cabin. It’s a single mom and her family and it’s going to be some bad juju happening there. It’s going to be horrible, but in the best way. The trick it to try and keep something of the Evil Dead legacy within the filmmaking, so I was there for the post production sound that we did in Europe. So we snuck in a few of the original Evil Dead sound effects from the original movie, because we have them all digital now. So my job is to sneak stuff in and infect his movie with some of the Evil Dead stuff. My voice is in it too.”
